I'm over my mania and back down to earth. However I had to quit two meds because wellbitrin was just evil for my aggression. And risperdal is making my prolactin levels too high. So the only thing I'm taking now is Abilify 20mgs and seoquel 50mgs PRN for sleep. And buspar. I called my pdoc and I have an apt with the nurse Monday. All I'm interested in right now is maintenance since I'm "ok" right now. I know I don't want a AD but I'm thinking of lamictal for a mood stabilizer. Is one AP and one stabilizer along with buspar enough for maintaining? I'm bp2 and borderline personality if that helps. Also, I'm sensitive to meds that can cause aggression (which is why I don't want an AD right now)

I don't know for you, but Lithium seems pretty okay for me. I can't take a lot of meds because my body likes to have bad side effects or be allergic. I can't take lamictal because I get a rash on it.

It is hard to say which maintenance drugs are the best being we are all different. I do like lamictal and lithium has helped some in the past, but I do take AD's along with it.

Since starting Lamictal I now sleep 6 hours/day instead of 3. It is a great med!

Thanks everyone. I think I'll bring it up when I see the nurse on mon. Just had another outburst and pretty Much walked out of family dinner with my middle finger up. So hopefully it will curb my anger

Just using Lamictal for maintenance. A little bit (25mg) of seroquel in the evenings that we'll drop when I get back from travel, hopefully.

For me Lamictal has been a good stabilizer, and it helps with the depression end. I've been on it for eight years. It's a maintenance drug for me. I've had no side effects.

I've been happy with Lamictal and Latuda!
Latuda has replaced the Serequel and has been a pleasant transition. I'm very happy with the combo. I feel a little more lively and not so 'out of it'

I did really well on lamictal for several years until after I had my second baby. I tend toward depression with irritable/anger issues also, and I can't use AD's for that reason. It helped me immensely with those until I got pp depression after my second baby. I was on lamictal alone until just recently, and the plan is to go back to that alone once I am feeling better (if I can without a relapse). I am dx BP II.

I wish I could use fewer meds for maintenance. Maybe someday, after I've been stable for a long time. But I can't complain---I've been in remission since January and I'm not even having a mood episode despite the onset of fall. If it ain't broke, it makes no sense to try to fix it.
