I was on the maximum dosage of Cymbalta for a couple of years or so. Then I changed health insurers & the out-of-pocket cost skyrocketed. Too much for me! So I contacted my pdoc & told him I had to get off of the stuff. I expected he would recommend a long, slow withdrawal. But he just tapered me off over the course of two weeks. I didn't have any difficulty coming off of it. Sometimes I feel like, since then, I've remained more nervous than I was prior to going on it to begin with. But this may or may not be true. I was always a pretty darn anxious person anyway. Also, I'm getting older & I think older people become stressed more easily anyway.
Good luck with your withdrawal, Standup2me. ![]()

I'm on Cymbalta and I haven't tapered off yet, but there's a lot of people in a fibromyalgia group I participate in who are livid about the experience of coming off Cymbalta. I suspect a lot of those went off cold turkey, but some had trouble tapering off the legitimate way.
You can slow your taper by breaking the 30mg capsules open and sprinkling about half the contents on applesauce. Swallow immediately without chewing. (With your pdoc's consent, of course ![]() |
