My pdoc is awesome! He's smart, funny, and very talented---he grows fruits and vegetables and cans them himself. He's been all over the world (was a Lt. Colonel in the Army and served in both Iraq and Afghanistan) and has a lot of great stories about his travels. But he has also studied me closely and knows my quirks and foibles, and he remembers absolutely EVERYTHING. I can't get away with trying to BS him, nor does he allow for any intellectual laziness on my part.

I'm going to lose him though, he's going back to private practice soon and I almost feel sorry for my next pdoc, because Dr. Awesomesauce is the standard by which I will judge all future psychiatrists.

Annoying asf. He fake smiles all the time and is very frustrating to talk to. I'm in the public system though so who knows when he'll leave and I get a new shiny one (heh). He's the 5th psychiatrist I've seen in a year and a half. I've had a couple of good ones in the past who were more personable.

She's young looking, nice I guess. If the others would quit bawling at her I might get to talk to her.

Love my psychiatrist. He's brilliant with meds; extremely skilled with knowing how they interact and at knowing the subtle reasons for choosing one over another. He's attentive -- always returns calls within a few hours. He's very soft-spoken and kind, yet very much forceful when he needs to be with me -- intuitive that way. He's extremely respectful, a good listener, and considers our work together to be collaborative; he doesn't dictate my treatment to me -- I always have input.

All shrinks are med peddlers. I'd rather just use a med dispenser. If I had a nice therapist to talk too, I'd be swinging all right.

After two very negative experiences I was so very fortunate to land the fellow I have now. My other doctors only saw e for five minutes every six weeks - long enough to ask me how I was doing and write a script for meds.

This one I've had coming on 3 years. I see him monthly for hour to hour and a half long visits. He knows everything there is to know about me (I don't think the others even knew I had children). He is of real therapeutic value.

But I know this is unusual. He is a teaching doctor and has the time. I do on ocassion have students present but this has always been positive. As he turns to explain something I hear and get the benefit of it too. It has really given me an insight into my illness and care.

And of course, the fact that he has one of my pieces of artwork in his office always makes me feel good.

My current pdoc is great. I've been seeing him for 5 years, so he knows all about me. He is the most laid back dr I have ever seen. Sometimes I swear he smokes pot before the day starts, but I know that's not the case. I wouldn't trade him for anything.

My psychiatrist has the kleenex strategically located, but I think she's hand me one if I cried.... my pdoc is professional yet empathetic. Sometimes she actually shares a little bit out of her own life to make something relevant or sensible, which I appreciate. She's approachable.

My pdoc is pretty formal. She asks me questions, I give short answers. She sits there making notes between questions. Then she makes a med decision and escorts me out the door. I personally prefer it that way, so it works for me.

I don't see mine for very long at a time and we don't discuss much other than as it strictly relates to how I am doing. I have only been seeing him about four months and we are still increasing meds. He is a bit reserved but very knowledgeable, especially regarding the meds, and listens when I do speak. I like him and am pleased so far.

Mine also sits and intergates me. That's what it feels like anyway. She's the kind of doctor who would just know if you're abusing alcohol or prescription medication. Luckily I'm not doing either of those things.

Amazing. I have been so fortunate to have her for 13 years now. I don't think there is much she doesn't know about me and although a change in job has left her less available than she used to be which can be challenging during times like now she still gives me as much time and attention as I need. My last 2 sessions have been 2 hours long as we sort through options and details and how to work things out. When I'm in the hospital she stays in touch with the IP doctor (they work for the same hospital although at different locations) and she stays involved in what med changes are made. She admits to frustration and feeling bad that she can't get things adjusted so that I feel better. She has never pushed anything at me; everything is my own decision although the last number of years I've known I had to try nearly anything anyway. But when I told her that I had 2 meds I didn't think were covered that she and the hospital dr had discussed putting me on and that I was concerned because I am not good at taking meds during the day and both of these had daytime dosing she said that those weren't good meds for them then and thanked me for being honest. She's willing to fight when needed and I've seen her take on insurance and fight tooth and nail until she won. When I cry I don't just get tissues, I've had her sit and hold me while I cried when I was IP, for a long time. I usually get a hug when things get rough.

I have been very, very blessed by winding up with her. She isn't remotely local for me but when I started seeing her she had a few days per month at my counseling center which at the time was just a few minutes from home. Then we both moved around some and so she's 2.5 hours from home but worth every minute. And she schedules me so that I go up after I see my therapist which cuts some drive time off. She's the dr you dream of but never expect to find.

Mine is so sweet, but she's a FLAKE! I stay because finding another one is SO frustrating. If I wasn't stable (from the cocktail my previous AMAZING pdoc gave me)- I'd HAVE to go.

Mine reminds me of Steve Jobs. As far as looks go. He also has a Apple computer, he's a good listener but very quiet personality.

Mine is not very warm, but she is smart, and knows a lot about bipolar.

Mine is hilarious - cracks some jokes here without being flippant or disrespectful. At the same time, he's a good reader of people and I'm not a tough case for him to handle. I know I have some issues (anger, paranoia, hypomania) but I try to keep things light when I see him so he picks up on my overall mojo and goes from there.

I like him, he's very kind and caring. He just sits, asks questions, and listens.

Mine is personable, pretty insightful, cares personally for his patients (even giving out his personal cell phone number,) but very neurotic.

Mine is totally cool! But I am afraid she can read my mind which does sometimes freak me out.
