I haven't had coffee in over a year but lithium tears my stomach up. Lately I have to eat bread before I take my dose or I'll be nauseous and in pain. Lithium works so well for me that I curse it but I won't ask my pdoc if I can try anything else.

I am an anomaly, it seems. I have had no side effects from Lithium....and I drink my coffee every morning...

I am on a really low dose because I am on another medication that heightens the effect of the lithium....but still, it has worked wonders for me and I haven't experienced any negatives....

I am going to try having some bread. I hope it works!
Plus, I love bread, so a total win-win

I get a mild upset stomach from my 1200 mg dose of lithium, so I take it before I go to bed. I should probably take it twice a day instead of once, but I'm not organized enough to manage that. I have a large coffee every morning with no complications. It's when I skip the coffee that I feel sick.

I was drinking a lot of coffee when I was on Lithium. I got so sick that I couldn't eat. It lasted for many days.

Lithium gave me horrible stomach issues until I started taking the liquid kind.
