For the past two years I've either been manic or depressed. I can no longer tell if this is the beginning of mania or a good mood. How do you guys normally tell? I have a lot of energy and I just want to go to the mall. Not necessarily to buy anything, but to get out. I feel pretty restless and just want to go shop. Even if it's just window shopping.

I'm gonna be honest though and say I don't have money so that's probably why I want to window shop. I kind of want to go to the thrift store and buy stuff I know I don't need.

Could be the beginning of hypomania. For me it starts off with feeling pretty upbeat and gradually becomes more and more euphoric. Then comes the rapid speech, intense giddiness, inability to really sit in one place for a long time unless I'm working intensely for many hours without a break on a project. I guess you should keep an eye out for a feeling that's quite a bit better than JUST good, especially if it's for no real reason.

I noticed the rapid speech today. That's what made me nervous.
