I'm feeling both depressed and physically hurting. My neck is very sore and stiff because my lymph nodes are swollen on the left side, and it seems to be spreading to the other side now too. I've had a throbbing headache all day and I feel slightly feverish, but took my temperature and it's normal. This couldn't possibly be related to my meds, could it? It happened out of nowhere, yesterday. Either way I'd really like to be able to sleep comfortably and be able to turn my neck normally again so I'm seeing my regular doctor tomorrow.

I wouldn't know if that could be caused by your meds or not. It's good you are seeing your doctor. I had my lymph nodes in my neck swell like that before, and my bloodwork showed I was maybe just fighting a virus.
Sorry you are feeling depressed. I'm right there with you. Hope it doesn't last long. Keep checking in and letting us know how you are doing. (((((Hugs))))) |

Sorry to hear you're hurting. Your doc should be able to give you a good idea of what's going on. Sending you healing energy.

I think I might have a virus because I got far worse as the night progressed. Now I can't turn my head at all really. Gonna see the doctor soon

Blegh...just came home from the doctor. She said my tonsils are very inflamed and that it could be strep or tonsillitis. She prescribed me antibiotics. At least she said I can still take ibuprofen and other pain killers while on Lithium and Lamictal. I honestly had no idea if they'd react badly together or not.
This is just awful to deal with when I'm already feeling depressed

Be careful taking NSAIDS and Lithium. I'd stick to tylenol. Here's what I found about NSAIDS (ibuprofen) and Lithium. Also I remember my pdoc telling me not to take an NSAID with lithium when I took it.

I take anti-inflammatorys with Lithium and have had no problems. Both my pdoc and pain doctor (for Fibromyalgia) know I am on both and have never mentioned it could be an issue.

I guess I'll stick with tylenol. Maybe it works differently from person to person but I really don't want to risk feeling physically worse right now

My neck hurts the same but my headache is finally gone I think. My mood is being so random right now. My boyfriend said that by the end of the day, I no longer seemed depressed and seemed even borderline hypomanic? I never switch this quickly. Maybe my meds are trying to work and my mood is going haywire as a result?

When I was first on lithium I was still diagnosed as MDD and bipolar hadn't really come up at all. I went on lithium because it was effective at reducing suicide risk and boosting ADs. But almost immediately it made it very clear that I was bipolar because suddenly the cycling was much more obvious than it had been. Dose adjustments and getting off SSRIs and onto mood stabilizers helped. But lithium really was the first thing that made everyone certain that I had bipolar. I think my friend who is a psychologist suspected it but otherwise it was a bit of a surprise to everyone but then it became very obvious that it was accurate once people thought about it. So maybe you've got something like that going on?

Oh interesting. I wasn't even aware lithium could be used for MDD. I was only prescribed an AD when I was diagnosed with it. My pdoc knows I'm bipolar but won't write it down on paper to make it official yet because she wants to get to know me better first which I think is a good decision, even though I'm certain by now that I'm bipolar. I feel like I should mention to her that my old pdoc tried diagnosing me with bipolar even 4 years ago but I was too stubborn to accept my diagnosis and left the clinic. I just hope these crazy mood swings stop soon and that it evens out. Maybe they're happening more frequently because I'm a rapid cycler as it is?
