I stopped taking my lithium yesterday. Every time I took it I would vomit so I figured well it obviously isn't being absorbed anyways. They will have to find something else for me, but honestly I'm doing fine on just abilify. It's stopping depression and mania so I don't feel I need anything else right now. And I know I'm supposed to listen to my doctors but vomiting every day isn't healthy. I've always done best on just a antipsychotic. It used to be Risperdal but I had to come off it because it caused problems. After that I had a manic episode and all these medications were tried. But I've read that many people with bipolar can function just with an antipsychotic. (I also take clonazepam) I also stopped the trileptal or whatever it's called due to side effects. I'm doing just fine though. Anyone else find they can function with just an antipsychotic?

Well, I'm very glad to hear you are doing better. I was worried for you for a bit. As for the medication, I would just call your pdoc as soon as possible and let him/her know what's up.

I can't take lithium either. They had me try lamictal for awhile.
We have a gal in our support group that has such bad tremors it looks like she has Parkinson's.
I'm on a different protocol that's working for now. I'm still fighting with myself to do more than read eat and care for my dog and cat.

But that's actually a lot based on last May-not eating sleeping or taking any of my meds.
So I have to accept baby steps. Be proud that I can live outside of a hospital and no more ECT. Each brain manifests bipolar different. It's based on everything. Not just meds.
The food you eat. Time spent outdoors. Communicating with people or isolating. If you have children or pets or both. Married or living together. If you let another's opinion ruin your life. No one understands bipolar better than someone with bipolar.
If you broke your leg, someone else with a broken leg would be in unity with you.
