Today I found the term California Rocket Fuel: Remeron and Effexor Combination. Basically a NaSSA and SNRI (respectively 'Noradrenalin and Specific Serotonergic Antidepressant' and 'Serotonin Noradrenalin Reuptake Inhibitor').

To treat my post-manic depression, as a monotherapy I have tried escitalopram for 10 weeks which made me ultra restless (possibly prodrome to mania), Wellbutrin which didn't do anything at all and 2 years ago Paxil which made me manic.

Since a couple of months I am on 400mg Lamictal (mood stabilizer) which took an eternity to titrate and didn't lift my depression, we upped Remeron (NaSSA) from 7,5mg to 45mg, still no effect except sleeping almost 12 hours. So recently I started to add 25mg Sertraline (SSRI). Still it has hardly any effect on my depression, although it seems I am sleeping a bit less (slept 10-12 hours and now about 9) but I feel a bit restless again.
I think I also have GAD and OCD (ruminating thoughts) but haven't been diagnosed for those as my pdoc thinks it's depression related.

I wonder if I have to wait until the Sertraline kicks in and eventually up the dose to 50mg or that I should suggest the rocket fuel to my pdoc?

Another pdoc told me it can also take a couple of months more for the Lamictal to reach its maximum efficacy.

Is there anyone in this forum that used the same combination of meds or rocket fuel that helped treating bipolar depression?

Dx: Mix anhedonia with Bipolar II. Add some insomnia and chronic stress. Season with paroxetine and a pinch of ADD. Stir well to induce a couple of hypo/manic episodes. After the excess of energy is gone, remove the Paroxetine and serve chilled with some C-PTSD and GAD. Ready is your MDD.

Mx: To clean up the mess use lamotrigine, r
isperidon, mirtazapine and sertraline. Let it soak in for a while but keep a close eye on it. Meanwhile enjoy your desert of oxazepam/temazepam prn.
Thanks for this!

You have a good knowledge of medications.
I've changed many many times.
My med combo has been working pretty well.

Go for it, pearlys.

If that fails, stack in Lithium!
