I started taking more gabapentin today to help me get through my very severe anxiety/sensitivity to everything right now. And what they told me was kind of interesting. Gabapentin binds to the same receptors that klonopin does which is why it is so good for anxiety (but it is not addictive like klonopin). So if klonopin is really effective for you gabapentin is likely to work well for you as well.

So far it is helping a tiny bit and staying in my room, under my weighted blanket and with ear plugs in is helping a lot more. I did do one group today and about 10 minutes of another so I think I accomplished a lot and maybe the gabapentin gets some credit.

Now if people would just stop telling me that seroquel and clozaril are fairly similar and the transition shouldn't be that bad. It could be worse. It could be much, much worse. But it is unpleasant, my doctors say that is completely normal, and it's going to get worse over the next couple days probably as we rapidly get off the Seroquel.

I''m going to be here for about a week to 10 days more. I'm kind of interested in how much gabapentin I'll be on by then, especially since Clozaril is really not very sedating to me. I'm starting at 200 twice a day PRN and 800 at bedtime (I used to take 400 at bedtime). I'm betting close to 800 PRN or scheduled during the day and 1200 at bedtime. We'll see.

Well that explains why gabby works so well for me. For me it feels very similar to clonazepam. Except better because it doesn't give me the sort of down feeling clonazepam did.

How is it working for you? Is it helping?

How are you doing in general? Are you having any trouble sleeping?

Hugs!

It helps but this is the very worst part of this and so it's not enough. They increased my dose today so hopefully I'll get more out of the next dose than the last one. (And they didn't forget to increase it). Anxiety right now is horrible. Also very, very irritable and don't like being near people. I'm in my room with the door closed a LOT and everyone kind of knows that groups are questionable for me. I'm trying to go and made it to 2/3 today (and tried the 3rd) but I can't handle the talking and chairs shifting making noise and just all of it. I'm going to go hide from the tv that was just turned out right now. Overall I'm ok but in the very worst of it. I hit 300 of Seroquel last night, tonight is 150 and tomorrow is none. So these are the hardest days. My clozaril goes up tomorrow to I think 75 in the morning, 50 at night. Or 75/75? I get confused, there are so many changes. I have about a week more to go here probably. I have to be feeling better to go home. Of course my pdoc changes Monday so whatever the plan is this week may not be the plan next. But it should be something like that; they are going to want about the same things I think.

Yippeeee! I'm hoping it's going to be my miracle! After the horrible Latuda experience, my pdoc took me off of that and put me on gabapentin! I've been relaxed some (only 300mg x 2 a day: morning and night). She said she will slowly up it but we will eventually have to adjust my Lamictal because it is also a epilepsy med. How are you today?
