I'm home, in my pajamas and cuddled up with my orange cat who may never stop purring. I'm exhausted after missing my naps (all I really have wanted to do the last few days is sleep and they let me because they feel I really need it) and a little worried that I haven't heard from the pharmacy after the resident wrote the orders for gabapentin incorrectly (he wrote two different orders, one for the daytime doses and another for the night doses and he has to correct that so they can combine it before they can fill it. If they don't by tomorrow afternoon I may have to have them fill one bottle and deal with it when that runs out. I can make do tonight and probably part of tomorrow but it's just tricky, especially since I don't have an easy ride tomorrow and am not sure I"ll be driving. I sure couldn't have been safe today.

I'm on 175 mg of Clozaril twice a day, so 350 mg total. That's more than my pdoc had been aiming for but it is working and every day I'm feeling a little better. I think I finally started feeling it when I was on 250 mg divided. I could really do without the drooling at night (common side effect); it's gross. I may need a medicine to help with that. But otherwise it really hasn't had side effects. I'm tired and sleepy a lot but it doesn't seem to be from the clozaril as much as the clozaril plus gabapentin plus just being exhausted after so long without a decent week or even string of days of sleep

So glad to be home. I'm hoping to take meds about 8:30 and sleep until morning.

Great news...well not about the script issues, but being home again is awesome. Keep us posted on how your tracking day to day, esp. with the Gabapentin script and Clozaril side effects. Wishing you the best.

Tired!!!!! I slept from 9:30 pm until almost noon and then napped almost all afternoon with intermittent awake times. I've done nothing but enjoy the quiet and sleep. I think the clozaril has finally reached a dose it is making me sleepy combined with just needing to sleep because it had been so long and adjusting to my much higher bedtime gabapentin dose. Plus, it is quiet and nobody is checking on me every 15-30 minutes. I know that I'm always tired after a hospitalization but this one may win for the most tired.

Hopefully I can get through this soon b/c next week I have psychiatrist monday, fillings tuesday and wednesday and therapy thursday. It will all be covered under medicaid this way so that's good but it's a big week when there are so many med changes and if I'm this sleepy.

I think they need to change my clozaril dose to put more at night and less during the day. I'm sure my pdoc will do that Monday.

Tomorrow is therapy.

Oh a lot of people drool at night, not even as a side effect from meds. I know I do. I know, not sexy.

This is not regular drooling. I realize everyone drools at night but this is huge quantities of drool. I can't describe how much it is aside from my shirt is soaked, my pillowcases are soaked, etc. I'm drooling some during the day but can catch it. The night drooling I can't catch and so I'm very wet. It's a well-known side effect.

I LOATHE the drooling! I wake up and the shoulders on my shirt will be soaking wet; my hair in one place is wet and there is a puddle on the pillow. It isn't cause for stopping the med but it does make me feel disgusting!

I am so glad you are home and well! You seem to be doing better. I am sooo happy for you and your animals (and us!)!

They can treat the drooling with meds. I won't do that unless I am drooling more than the tiny, easily dealt with amount during the day that I have now. My pdoc told me to not expect that to be a huge issue because she planned to go to only 200 mg and that would have fewer side effects but then I needed 375 (maybe I can come down some but I doubt it will be to 200).

I am feeling better. I hope it keeps improving. I have long experience that makes me wary but every little bit is better than I was a week ago or 3 weeks ago. For today I just wish I weren't quite so tired. That makes me anxious that I'm going to have trouble with sedation after all. In the hospital I was doing fine with waking up and eating breakfast/taking AM meds and then sleeping about an hour/ 90 minutes then I was up for 3 or 4 and then napped a couple then did supper and stayed up until after 9:30 meds and a shower and then slept about 11:30-8 with a few wake-ups the last few days. So I was asleep a good bit but not like today. Hopefully it's just a matter of catching up.

So far I've spent my time home sleeping. It's so nice to have my own bed, the dark that goes with living where I do, and my kitties. I also have a lot of sleeping to catch up on. I just seem to be trying to do it all at once.

I will say that gabapentin was an absolute life saver this last 10 days. I was allowed to increase my doses as I needed to and it got me through without any horrible meltdowns except once when I was treated unfairly and another time I just lay in bed crying for no reason. It is definitely good for anxiety. I have to go now in order to take it in fact; it wasn't in my pill box b/c I'm waiting to hear from CVS that I can pick it up and the prescription error is fixed. Until then I'm using what I had from before. But I'm pretty impressed I made it through without something stronger. Apparently my hospital is very big on a combination of gabapentin and hydroxyzine for anxiety and the combination worked very well for me,probably better than benzos. I used 1 mg of klonopin a few times and my usual klonopin at bedtime but for the most part it was that combination.

I'm on SSDI. It would take a miracle for the clozaril to work well enough for work to be an issue ad I'm not sure I'd go back then because work was a big problem when I did it. I loved it but it just wasn't good for me.
