The less I know the better.
My caretaker loves gossip, and occasionally gives me an update or two.
But I prefer to remain a super private person, the less they know about me and vice versa.
There are about 20 lots up here on the mountain. 7-14 acres each. About 1/2 built. Most part time owners.
That's all I need to know.
How do you deal with your surroundings ? Is it fun for you to participate,or do you prefer to be left alone?

I live in an extended stay ... I like to be left alone and keep to myself.

And, about that caretaker ... I'd share as little with that caretaker as possible ...

If they're talking to you about others then they're also probably talking to others about you!

Right you are. Ticos are notorious at spreading gossip. That's how homes up here get robbed.
Thanks Frog.

I couldn't tell you my neighbors' names, although I know I introduced myself to them at some point.

I don't get involved with the neighborhood. Life is a lot calmer that way.

That's what I crave. Calmness and Peace. Life is less complicated when there isn't the drama of surrounding neighbors.
I limit my friends too, for the same reasons.
At the same time though, I like meeting new people. I'm going to get involved in a group called Meet-up, when I return to the states.

I use Meet-up. There's always something to do, and fun people to do it with, but I haven't made any lasting friendships from them. But that's just me.
