So I've been on the pill (diane 35) on and off for 10 years for my acne and was wondering if anyone had experiences with it interacting with medications, causing depression or even worsening rapid cycling. I asked my pdoc and she never seems to have any answers, its so frustrating.

I've been on birth control the entire time I've been on psych meds, and no, I don't think that it affects them at all. I could be wrong and it could be that it causes rapid cycling but I can't say because there hasn't been a time that I've been on just birth control or just psych meds.
Thanks for this!

I was on the pill for 14 yrs (ever since I started my period!) because I really almost bleed to death. Not even exaggerating. So I really can't tell if it had a role in my mood swings. But I have friends that claim it made them crazy. Just be careful about long term use because when I stopped it last year I got post pill amenorrhea and haven't had my period since. I'm very concerned but I went to my Gyno for blood work and it came out fine. He said its normal but after a whole year I'm kinda worried. Maybe if it does cause cycling then a stabilizer can help bring you down? I don't know but maybe bring it up to pdoc. They can give you more insight.

I also started it after I got my period because of severe acne and stuck with it because of PCOS developed later in life. I'm also want to wean off it because of the risk of DVT (I'm only 22 but it still scares me) and honestly it could be contributing to my cycling. My pdoc is so confused by my rapid cycling she just wants to put me on lithium but I really can't risk the weight gain
