I have been hypomanic within a few days of March 20th, for the past 3 years - Like clockwork.

Prior to the episode, i usually get anxious and eat lots the week prior.

Right now -- i am very groggy, down, and hungry. Relatively anxious.

Does anyone else get these feelings right before an episode? I'd be interested to hear about it.

I think you described it for me, the calm before the storm, sometimes the eye of the hurricane.

Is it same-old same-old, then bam?

Or is it more like, standing for months, then crouching down slightly before jumping? (Whereas the prior would be standing for months then jumping off of straight legs, not crouched)

For me it is the latter. A small dip in mood before hypomania.

How does it feel for you right before an episode? Like in terms of emotions and all?

I honestly can't tell how I'm going to wake up feeling for the day. Maybe I just don't take better notice in my moods. But recently my hypo has been med induced. I had a newer pdoc a few months ago when I got back on meds so it was a lot of trial and error. Anything activating causes me to get hypo, dysphoric, or mixed a few days after I start the med. This time around my bf just pointed out that I've been a mess for a few months now due to the stimulants I was put on. I was up and down a few days at a time from my meds. It got really bad two wks ago and I wasn't sleeping and was depressed for a few days then I woke up just plain crazy. I can tell when I'm already bad or heading there once I stop sleeping. I guess that's the only sign I'm aware of. This time at least.

i can relate

------------------------

the reason why i notice my moods so well is because they are usually very flat. and even so, it takes a significant swing for me to notice, which is essentially what bipolar is. so now i notice a lot more.

Anyway, not letting the last two posts side track the thread- the question has not changed.

Who here feels differently right before mania?
