About 2 weeks ago I upped my dose of lamictin from 125mg to 150mg. I now have a red splotch on my arm and have flu-like symptoms. I don't know if its me just being paranoid or what but I'm scared it could be the lamictal rash.I pray that its not because lamictal is the only medication that has worked for me so far into my treatment (I've been taking it for about a year, but at a very low dose, 75mg) Am I being paranoid? My parents just had the flu, and it could just be a bug bite. I really don't want to give up this medication, it has saved my life, I just want to cry. As soon as things start working out, I hit another dead end

I would go to the doctor!
I saw an article on DailyMail about that: Becki Conway left blind after suffering reaction to prescribed drug pairing | Daily Mail Online "Initially after taking the pairing of the prescribed drugs, she began to feel better, but two weeks later she started feeling symptoms similar to those of the flu including a sore throat and a dry cough" It took her 2 weeks before she got flu-like symptoms... just like you It may be a coincidence or it may not! But that lady went blind in one eye, so I wouldn't risk it. I would go to the doctor immediately! |

Forget if it's working or not. GO TO THE DOCTOR FAST!!!.
Not all the rashes are SJS. But why risk it. There are so many mood stabilizers now, that I'm sure you haven't tried them all. I for one will get off the Lamictal. It worked for 3 years, but not anymore. |

I can't go until tomorrow though, I sent her an email so hopefully she responds in time. I'm scared to phone in because my dad was rude to the receptionist and harassed her for an appointment. I want to go to casualty but what will they do? Plus my insurance won't pay.

Consider holding the med until you've spoken to a dr and you really should get it looked at if you don't get a clearance from your pdoc. This doesn't sound like THE RASH that you are describing but you don't ever want to mess with it.
I had THE RASH (which is very rare so that's one good reason to think you'd be ok) and it was quite distinctive. I actually noticed a little tiny bumpy rash on my cheek one evening and thought nothing of it. So I took my dose and by morning I had THE RASH badly, all over my face and neck, including my eyelid and lips. THE RASH is distinctive and you'll know if you have it but you can't know that another rash won't become THE RASH. THE RASH feels like a burn and feels like the skin is still burning. It was very warm to the touch and sort of blistery without having fluid blisters. It was dry and my lips peeled. It was also very, very itchy but too painful to scratch. A fever can go with it; I never knew if I had that because I had bronchitis at the same time and had been running fevers anyway. Just don't panic but don't ignore it either. I wish very much that I hadn't taken more after noticing the little patch of rash; I truly didn't think b/c I was out of the danger zone. I hope the dr gets back to you.
