I have been working so much that I haven't been able to get a new prescription before running out. Now I have 2 300mg tablets left to last me until next week. I ususally take 800mg but recently I have to resort to only take 300mg now I have to half those 3 tablets to even get a little bit of a effect from them until I reduce to nothing. It's going to be hell. I've been trying so hard to be good with taking them. Now I feel like my job is going to be on the line. I have no idea how I am going to be like at work.

Are you doing this with a doctor's guidance?

This is very dangerous. I myself stepped the dosage down - under my psychiatrist's care - over 3 months. It brought on a severe bout of Depression and I ended up hospitalized.

So, what I am saying is don't do this.

Any chance you could get to an urgent care clinic or an ER to get a prescription ASAP? Seroquel withdrawals are more hellish (and more dangerous) than heroin withdrawals.

I don't understand why you can't get a new prescription or refill? You can't just give the pdocs office a call?

I'd reconsider going off that high of a dose that fast. I was only on 300mg and tried cold turkeying myself and got really sick, like puking sick.

I never got physically sick but it flipped me into an episode. Be careful!

Be your best advocate. You can't waste your doc's time getting what you need. Make the call now, even if you have to reach the after hours on call Doctor. And hopefully you have a 24 hour pharmacy to fill your prescription. Running out of your med is an emergency, so treat it as such and expect your provider to step up as well!
Thanks for this!

I took myself off 300mg seroquel last spring during my episode.

I basically tried to half the dose every week. But being hypomanic, some days i just didn't take it all together, then took a full dose, then didn't take it, ect. As long as you are taking less on the average, you should be slowly cleaning your bloodstream of it. But go slow.. i got cold sweats

I agree. Get the doc to call in the refill. If and when you reduce, taper slow.

But that's your doctor's job. Why jeopardize your mental health for the worry of inconveniencing someone?
Thanks for this!
