I know a lot of people with BP also have a sleep disorder. How are you sleeping lately? What do you take for sleep? Does it help?

If I do sleep then I'm waking up every couple hours from a wacky dream that seroquel causes. Or I don't sleep enough hours at all. My pdoc had to more than double my dose and it's not working very good so I'm considering geodon. And since I'm looking into a new sleep med, I'd love to hear what's working for you guys! So please do share.

I'm taking Latuda at bedtime, knocks me right out, waking at 6am or so, do have crazy dreams but getting solid sleep in. Before sleep was an issue even with trazodone

I take those two listed. I usually wake 2-3 times per night but I get about 10 hours total.

Traz, that is no working, Remeron, that is too new for me to know if it works and Xanax. Sometimes I wonder how long to Serotonin Syndrome.

I struggle bad with sleep. That's the main reason I was put on zyprexa. But bc of the weight gain I'm weaning off of it. I'm down from 15 mgs to 7.5 mgs now. I also take trazadone, hydroxyzine, lorazepam, oh that's it. But each time I go down on the zyprexa, I have to increase the other meds. Not the lorazepam tho. She won't up benzos. But I can only go up so much. Idk what we're gonna do with next decrease.

So you could try trazadone and hydroxyzine. I hope you find something that works for you...

A good-sized dose of gabapentin plus clozaril is making me sleep better than ever (?) before. I didn't even sleep as an infant and the only time I remember sleeping easily like this was when I was first on Emsam combined with 600 mg of Seroquel XR. Then I fell asleep at 11 and woke at 4. It worked for me but a lot of people thought it wasn't enough sleep.

At this point I'm probably sleeping too much so I probably need less gabapentin but I don't even care right now; my body has been through so much this year that I'm very willing to let myself rest. Even in the hospital they were encouraging me to sleep and heal. I see my pdoc pretty soon and probably will try less gabapentin then.

I sleep 4 hours tops ... I blame geodon ... took geodon for 2 years and slept like a rock ... nothing and I mean nothing could wake me ... when I went off geodon sleep went to hell ... I believe geodon so over whelmed my system that years later it is still not back to where it used to be ... never had sleeping issues before geodon ... don't you just love your ap ...

Yea nothing other than seroquel makes me sleep now. I tried everything OTC and vitamin wise. Nothing touches me. Once in awhile if I'm very desperate and seroquel doesn't work then I take two ativan. But I'm up in 3 hrs!

I feel like I'm the only one that doesn't get knocked out on Latuda, and I take 60mg of it. For my sleep is really erratic, especially when I'm hypomanic/manic. And to even get to sleep, I have to take benadryl, and that doesn't always help, I still wake up through out the night. It sucks to be honest, I just want some decent sleep.

I actually have a diagnosis of "insomnia due to other mental disorder" because my pdoc thinks it's part of my bipolar. So I'm on a snootful of meds to make me sleep, among other reasons. Even so, I've been having trouble getting to sleep before 2 AM lately, probably because I'm just a little hypomanic and have been for about three weeks. I sleep enough, I just don't seem to be able to do it at the "proper" time. I also wake up at least once a night.

Latuda didn't knock me out. Which would have been good probably at the time except it didn't work either.

What sucks about my sleep is that I won't sleep when I take my meds yet I can nap all day after from its hangover it has. So maybe I should just take it at lunch? Lol

Is Latuda an AP or AD? I think I've seen commercials but I can't remember

Edit: derrrrr. nvm just looked it up lol. It's an AP, 2nd generation.

Looked up geodon too. Does it have to taken twice a day??

I was taking 200 mg lamictal, 80 latuda, 20 ambien, two Benadryl and 10, melatonin and still waking up. Then she dropped the lamictal to 150 and I've been sleeping better, even lowered the ambien to 15. I should probably switch the lamictal to am and see if that helps even more.

The only cure I found for the insomnia that comes with bp is working the night shift. Sure your sleeping during the day but at least you sleep without meds lol
Well most of the time

I'm prescribed trazodone but I rarely ever take it, like I've taken it only a few times in the past year. I sleep really good. No problems since I've been stable on my meds. I sleep straight through the night. I used to have a lot of trouble sleeping but that was usually when I was manic.
