anyone take it for sleep? I took it last night early like around 7. I barely got up 12 hours later and was so "hung over". The drowsiness went away after about an hour or so but man it was tough fighting going back to bed. Anyone have this experience? I have to wake up at 3 so I just took one now but also set my coffee pot to brew a cup I'm hoping to jump out of bed and sip on the coffee. Hopefully no grogginess will last.

This exactly!
Seroquel ruins me. I get tired and hungry and weepy and defeated. I act like a horrible whiny child, because it feels like someone took away my life force. I still have to take it when I get manic. My partner force feeds me, but it has to happen. I was prescribed it at one point for sleep and I just couldn't do it. Now I keep him just for emergencies. Good luck! I had a tough time with it also. The doc switched me to Trazadone
and I do much better with it. I can get up fine in the morning. __________________ I traded it in for a whole 'nother world A pirate flag and an island girl |

I was first given Seroquel for sleep, 25mg, then 50 mg, and it was mildly helpful, but when I was wound up I still couldn't sleep. Now it's my monotherapy, and I take it just before I go to bed and I sleep 8 or 9 hours, then feel somewhat sleepy on waking, but that goes away.

I don't mind the sedating effect of Seroquel. Sleep is an escape. There are less hours in the day to fill the more hours i spend sleeping. I wish i had an active, dynamic life but my life is empty and i cope by sleeping it away. Prisoners fake mental illness to get prescribed Seroquel so they can sleep away their sentence. They call it 'Snooze Berries.'

Did you just start it?? You'll get used to it after awhile. Or learn to run straight to that coffee pot. I'm up to 450mg (and sleeping crappy) and when I wake up, I walk out to the living room and say hi to everyone, but I sway back and forth like I can't catch my balance lol. Then I head straight to the fridge and grab my energy drink. Then back to bed and sit up until I'm finally wide awake.
Trazadone is worst I think! Stuffy nose, headache, feels like I'm back in my drinking days! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have to be careful. I take it, then wake up around 4 hrs later.
Sometimes I feel like I'm going to fall flat on my face just walking to the bathroom. Takes about an hour to fall asleep again. __________________ Bipolar 1 Day Vraylar 3 mg. Wellbutrin 150 Night meds Temazepam 30 mg or lorazepam Hasn't helped yet. From sunny California! |

Seroquel knocked me out for about ten hours and when I woke up, I could SEE SOUND and hear things I could see.... it was a bad "acid" trip. Only took the one dose. I won't ever take it again.

I take both the standard Serequol 200mg and the slow release Serequol 150mg and it's a hit and a miss with me as to sleep. Normally I need 10 plus hours sleep last night I got 6 and I'm buzzing today in a sense

What is the purpose of taking an AP for sleep?
And sleeping ten hours a day or more seems so extensive to me. Seems there would be not much of the day left. __________________ Glory to heroes!

Mines is to calm me down as when I'm manic my head gets crazy at night. It also helps me as I can't take anti depressants to combat depression so this helps a bit it also helps with anxiety too

I used to take it for sleep and thought it worked well. I did feel a little bit zombieish but when you're feeling too much I found even that was a nice break.

I was on 400 mg (slowly built up from 50) some years ago. I slept good; I put on sixty pounds; and I seemed to be somewhat level, if a bit sluggish at times. Fast forward some years to the present, and the doc again gave me Seroquel, though I fought him tooth and nail (I cannot stand to put that weight on again). This time, he told me to take it only for sleep; yet another mixture in my ever-evolving cocktail of drugs. I tried it whole, as he directed, for twelve hours of sleep. I tossed and turned, and finally got up. The next night, I broke it two, as he suggested, and expected a full eight hours of sleep. All I got was four hours sleep and the zombie-like sluggishness, which has to be a Seroquel hangover. I don't know if my body changed, or what, but now this medicine seems a bit useless to me.

No side-effects other than 8 hours of quality sleep. It firmly fastens the loose screws in my head throughout the next day.
I take 200 mg immediate-release and 200 mg controlled-release. You might want to find the right balance between IR and XR if you sleep too long or have trouble sleeping. Quality sleep is helpful in lessening the susceptibility for all kinds of psychotic problems, mild or severe. Elimination half-life is rather short, so if you experience paradoxical effects during the day (more severe problems than before) you might want to switch to XR or use another antipsychotic. __________________ Mania kills cells. I take Seroquel for sleep. Anywhere from 100-300mg. In general I take 200mg. It works well for me and I don't ever feel 'hungover'.

Back in 2012 i was on 300-400mg a day, i was like a zombie & only up for maybe 6 hours a day & put on 20kgs in 2 months, i got myself off it coz i couldnt live like that, it was horrible. 2 years ago i was prescribed it again & was so scared of the consequences! Im now back up to 100-150mg a night & it is a godsend! I cant sleep at all unless i take seroquel now!
