Which would you rather lose, your hearing or your eyesight? I ask my students this question every year, and I get some amazing and insightful responses. Personally, I would rather lose my hearing, because, as important as hearing is, you need vision to do the things I love to do most: go sailing and fish. Neither activity would be half as wonderful without sound, but at least I could get out there and do it.

In fact, a world without sound would be terrifying, but I still think I'd like to keep my vision.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Being deaf and having worked with the blind and deaf-blind I'd definitely rather be deaf than blind.

I really don't want to be either. But if I HAD to choose, I would rather be deaf than blind.

I'd rather be deaf than blind too.

Not that I want to be either of course.

I agree, I'd rather be deaf than blind. I can't imagine to not be able to see everything/one that I love.

Blind. Listening to music is a huge coping skill for me and I don't think I could live without it. Without my glasses I'm legally blind and it sucks but I could handle that even though I would lose some independence like being able to drive.
