I'm feeling abit all over the place. Started back at work & had a night duty which has turned my sleeping pattern around. I've been depressed lately, sleeping most of the time, binge eating, but it's been much more comfortable than the agitation. Since my night shift I've been mainly tired & sleeping like I have been recently but also at times I feel overexcited & agitated, but that energy doesn't last long. I hate the agitated, uncomfortable energy. I hate having energy unless my mood is positive. I don't want the anger to come back.

Hello Wanderlust90: Many years ago, the Skeezyks worked straight nights. I've always been a night person & in many ways, I loved working nights. But it certainly can take a toll on you. And in recent years, I've read where studies are showing that, in many ways, it's unhealthy. Under any circumstances, it certainly does take some getting used to.

I'm sorry you are struggling with an unstable mood after night shift.
![]() Your symptoms described above are what my mixed mania (or dysphoric mania) present themselves as. I'm not suggesting you do, just saying I can relate to the uncomfortable agitation. Feels crap. I hope you're able to regulate sleep hours soon. |

I worked nights for 5 years. I was always a little (or a lot!) hypomanic in the mornings. I kind of liked it. Nights is awful for the body (including the brain) and I'm so glad I'm on dayshift now. I am more stable too.
