Has anyone had a psychosis? I had one in the summer. My first and only to date. If people have had this was it reoccurring? Or a one time thing? I'm on zyprexa as a preventative measure. The thought of having one again scares the HELL out of me. I have a family to take care of.

I've had it 3 times...that i know of. Once was due to medication. I've had my more severe symptoms in the depressive side of things. It seems sporadic though with a mood swing, granted i dont have it with every mood swing. I have psychotic symptoms and paranoia when I am not on an Antipsychotic but am not completely in psychosis if that makes sense....
It is very scary i am sorry to hear you have to deal with this. I think being on medicine is a good preventative. I foolishly stopped taking mine and started having problems again. I would work hard to keep up on self care as well as having someone in your life (I would think your spouse) who can help you if and when things starts to go wrong...

I've had a couple. I stay on Invega to prevent it. It was one of the scariest things to ever happen to me.

twice for me, I get the symptoms when I'm in more manic mixed states. last time I thought I was dead and in hell, and no one could talk me out of it, I thought everyone else wasn't real or only real to me if that makes sense. but they were both definitely detachments from reality.

Bipolar is a disorder that does come in episodes.

There are many ways to try and stay stable. One method is taking psych Meds. Working with your Pdoc to fix in on the best combo. Change when it's not helping.

If you understand what mood was pre Psycotic you can work on prevention. Getting help before psychosis is a good idea.
Once I saw my T everyday and my Pdoc once a week. It worked better than in patient in the hospital.
Yes I've had many many Psycotic episodes. Usually when I get the idea to go off my Meds.
