Has anyone had Zyrtec or any other allergy medication cause depression or anxiety? I'm starting to suspect Zyrtec may be the main cause of my problems right now. I'm going to stop taking it and see how I do. I live in an area with VERY bad allergens in the air, so I may have allergy problems due to stopping it. Has anyone had good luck regarding bipolar symptoms with certain kinds of allergy medications over others?

I take Claratin for my allergies. It works ok but I like that I really
have no side effects from it. Your question is interesting, I never thought of having any effect on my bipolar but now you have me wondering.

A friend of mine had to go to the ER not to long ago and they found antidepressants in her blood. She was confused because she has never taken them before so they asked her if she was on OTC cold or allergy meds and she was. So I imagine if ADs are bad for BP then some allergy or cold meds are too. Just my point of view. I find it pretty interesting!

I found out the hard way that you can't take hydroxyzine with zyrtec. Zyctec is a derivative of hydroxyzine and together it is way too much and fees really bad. Otherwise Zyrtec has been kind to me.

I can't take any type of cold or allergy pills.
Gives me horrible anxiety.
