I don't personally have experience but I can say that it helped my mother tremendously when she journeyed through a weight loss of greater than 100lbs. I know she would recommend it to anyone who is also struggling with overeating.

I do. I joined a while back and really got into it. I had a "sponsor" who required me to e-mail her every night with a report. It wasn't about the food, but rather if I had harmed anyone that day, said an unkind thing, etc.
It got a little negative for me.
I got depressed and asked my sponsor if I could take a week off. She said "no" and that was the last I heard from her.
This was all done over the phone.
There seemed like some nice people were in there...I just hit a rude one.
I joined Jenny Craig and have been much happier.

Weight Watchers is what works best for me. I've already lost 60 lbs., and I'm about to start back on it to lose more weight (I need to lose at least 40 lbs. more). I've never tried OA.

Weight watchers has helped me in the past too. I did know someone who went to OEA, but as with all things addiction related, you got to stick with it. Good luck and hugs.

Did your overeating start when you began Seroquel? It's notorious for doing so. When I was on it I'd get out of bed despite pretty much being asleep and go to the fridge for ice cream...

Yes it's based on Christian principles like the other twelve step groups. That said, groups vary and individual members vary in terms of how much they focus on spirituality or religion. The focus of all twelve step groups is on a Higher Power as you understand him/her/it. You don't have to be a Christian to benefit from these programs.
