I voluntarily went off my meds and screwed everything up. The thing is, I still don't want to take them.

Anyways I decided I needed some help. I'm considering going into the ER to get admitted to the psych ward. I want to go without my mom.

I wanted to know if you need any insurance information before I can get admitted. I don't want to involve my mom yet.

By law, they can not turn you away for not having insurance.

I think you can get admitted to the hospital without insurance info off the bat. If you need help, they should help you regardless. Good luck!
Thanks for this!

They'll ask you for the information, but they can't turn you away. However, they can make it difficult for you if you have insurance and just don't want to give it to them.

I wonder if there is a minimum age for someone to be admitted without parental consent.

They cannot turn you away. They're obligated to take care of you with or without insurance. My sister has done it a few times and she's worked with the finance department to deal with payment issues after the bill arrives. If you need help ASAP, go for it ASAP.

In Canada you only have to be 14 not sure about where you are but I suspect it is similar. Give your family doctor a call. They actually can get the ball rolling for the admission too.

As a mom, I would really want to know if my child felt this way. Why do you feel you cannot tell your mom? (((Hugs)))

The ED will call your mother if you are under 18.

If you don't have insurance, it is also likely they will transfer you to a facility that is public access if this is a private hospital since you are without insurance. It will also be hugely expensive without claiming insurance so if you have insurance access, so for goodness sakes have that information available or the bill will be rather unmanageable. Let you parents know what is going on.
