So I was just diagnosed at 35 and went on meds. My husband and I are considering going through IVF again next year.
Those that were on meds (depakote, cymbalta preferably), how long before pregnancy did you go off? How did your pdoc handle this? Did you visit him/her more often?

I'm not trying to get preg right now but psych meds have completely ruined my system. I haven't had a cycle in over a year now and I'm scared to death. So I'm guessing if I ever do want kids, I'll have to stop my meds for quite awhile. I know I didn't exactly answer your question but I'm curious as well as to what others say.

Hi diagnosed in since 2010, was on lithium, serequil and something else, just had my little girl on April 18th, I chose to stop my meds once I found out I was preggers, I knew it was going to be hard and boy was it!! But I reminded my self it was for her safety and I had to ride out the mood waves, when things got really bad I talked it out, a couple of times it was really bad, tried to sleep through those times, I'd always awake it a better mood. But my advice to you is do what works for you. I was depressed most of my pregnancy and she came out a little small , (seven pounds) but the depression was situational . you have a spouse and your married so the face you two are in this together will help. That support will carry you through. Oh n my doc was concern but respected my decision as long as I continued to do healthy things. Good luck and god bless. P.s I started taking the meds three days after birth.
Thanks for this!

My gyno had me go off all meds 2 months before our planned pregnancy and strongly advised that should at least stay off through the first trimester and if I still needed something, which I did, he would allow me to take certain meds up until 2 weeks before delivery. It's been a while but I believe I took a smaller dose of Wellbutrin during that time.
