I just started taking Trileptal about a week ago and I find myself just staring off into space. I'm not tired, just spacey. I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience and if it passed over time?

Trileptal was a wonder for me until I got up to a high dose and ended up in the ER because I was seeing double and couldn't even walk or drive. I first went to urgent care and he sent me to the ER saying it was a neurological side effect that was dangerous.

It's good to hear that you had a positive experience at one point. Sorry you had such a bad side effect towards the end. I am going to give it sometime and hopefully it will pass. Thanks for sharing!

I take 1200 mg a day with no side effects, I will say that the first whole month that I was on is a blur. I've been on it for a year and a half now

I was not able to handle the nausea long enough to see a positive effect.
Thanks for this!

It helped me a bit and I'm on 1500 mg a day. Yes I feel foggy on it.

I'm on 900mg, and it has been a good medication for me. I have no side effects. Can't remember if it made me feel spacey in the beginning.

I'm only on 300 mg right now. I probably just need to get used to it. I can be a little sensitive to meds at first. Thanks for all the responses.

It had me spaced out and more on the depressive side all the time. I took it for 2 years, those side effects didn't go away.
Thanks for this!

I was on it for a about a month...... couple years ago .. I had wicked nausea that I was on Zofran round the clock to try and get through that lousey side effect.

Now heres the condensed version albeit funny ... I took it and literally could not walk a straight line, I would list back and forth around the house, gawd forbid if I tried to make it to the barn outside ...

My husband did find it humorous to be honest, I at the time really wanted to give this med a real go.. But the nausea never stopped and eventually I was no longer okay about not driving or taking hot things out of the oven or anything else that honestly wasn't safe for me to do ...

I know quite a few people that this is there "it" med and they are enjoying lots of long term stability.

I definitely don't think I could live with nausea that intense! I know most medications are going to have side effects and you just have to figure out what you can and can't live with. The spacey feeling is starting to get better, but I'm about to increase so we will see. Thanks for sharing your experience.
