I posted a thread here about depressive rage, and it got me thinking: what is the difference between mixed mania and depression?

What do you think? What is the difference for YOU? Here's some overlap:

Depression
- hypersomnia or hyposomnia
- irritability
- agitation
- persistent feelings of sadness
- anger

Mixed mania
- hyposomnia
- irritability
- agitation
- persistent feelings of sadness
- anger

Those are just some examples. Obviously you don't need to meet ALL of those symptoms, by those are some overlapping ones.

I think mixed mania tends to have some reckless behavior involved. What else?

Response: I believe mixed states means that you flip rapidly between m and d or have symptoms of both within one day, for example.

I get Euohoric mania and Disphoric. I thought my mixed states were disphoric mania. They have all the self hatred along with barely any sleep and I'm wide awake and feeling all kinds of agitation and awfulness.

In a mixed state I have energy and when I'm purely depressed I don't. That's the main difference for me.

In a mixed state, I do things like sit on the bathroom floor at 2 AM scrubbing the tiles with an old toothbrush and bawling my eyes out. In depression I don't have the energy to get off the sofa. Big difference.
