Thanks for sharing your experience. I feel the same way about just the sucking bit: it helps.

But I don't know whether patches and vaping have any added value compared to vaping with nicotine-containing liquids. I also miss setting fire to something.

Good luck.

I miss the fire stuff too. It's cheaper to just vape. The zero nicotine is as much as the kind with nicotine in our shops. But I find the patches have an advantage of ALWAYS keeping a steady stream of nicotine.......so you never have a fit .....even when waking up. But that's just me. From a purely financial standpoint, I find just vaping to be cheapest. From a clinical standpoint and taking into account the oral fixation, a patch plus something to inhale has advantages in my eyes.
Thanks for this!

Last time I was in the hospital, they started me with a patch. I kept a straw with me and sucked on that. It kept me from going crazier while in the hospital. Then they switched me to the gum. It was less effective and I "Felt" when it wore off. The patch works well, for me. But everyone is different.

Yes, nicotine gum is awful like that (and of course because... it's gum), becoming less and less effective quickly.

Now with vaping, I keep thinking: should I smoke a proper cigarette or vape. It's more and more a 50%/50% thing.

But I will try patches. I'd like something controlled-release as well. Thanks for the info. I do think cutting down will become more difficult though. Maybe not.

I should definitely figure that out though. Any experiences with it are appreciated.

Let's face it.....Cigarettes smell, they are dirty with all their ashes and combustible residues. I prefer vaping to cigs if I can stand it, just for sanitary reasons. However regular cigs might be better for you in the long run. The jury is still out on Vaping and long term safety. It's a crap shoot. I think cigarettes taste nasty compared to the taste of the vapor.

Are you trying to quit smoking or just find the best delivery for nicotine? I do enjoy smoking and the stress relief, I just hate all the dirty nastiness which can come with it. My patio had so much ash and grossness to clean, as I prepared for my new non-smoking environment.

As a sad side note, I broke down and smoked 2 1/2 cigarettes today. I'm not a complete failure. If I stay away from cigs for the rest of the day, I've saved myself 77 cigs already. I think that's great.

Best delivery. I want to (dramatically) increase my use.

I found ashtrays to be a big help.

It is great you smoke so many fewer cigarettes. Don't feel bad about smoking some. I smoked about 10 today. Would've been 20 or more.

The wind always blows the ash everywhere, even with ashtrays . I'm a messy smoker I fear .

To increase use drastically, you can Vape, Smoke and use the patch. That would get your nicotine milligrams per day up. Is this an experiment to see how well it helps with psychosis? If so, let me know how it goes

Yes, it is. And I will.

Maybe smoke inside out a window. Or use water in the ashtray.

I've concluded I need to go back to vaping. I'm almost a pack a day right now. That's crazy. I only smoke that much when manic and I'm not manic right now. Just bored.

I'd choose smoking over vaping any day.
