Why was your sister pretending to cut herself? Was it for attention, or was she trying to piss off your mom?

Either way, hurting your sister won't solve anything. It sounds like she has serious respect issues and that she needs to learn how to respect others, especially members of her own family. However, I'm sure there's a reason for her behavior. (I'm not trying to justify her actions -- because I agree it's f***ed up -- but maybe there's an underlying issue that you're not aware of that needs to be addressed.)

Unfortunately, I can't offer any advice on how to teach her respect, but it's something you'll have to figure out. Maybe family therapy? No idea.

Sorry that your sister is behaving this way.

Shes leaving for college but wants to leave early to texas to suprsie her boyfriend but my parents want her to go a few days later so they can afford it.she doesn't like that and wants to have the two boys drive down here and take her back up there but my parents aren't comfortable so she was having a hissy fit and slamming doors and taking the knife pretending to cut herself with it then she licked it. My sister is not mature at all.she has no family in texas.if her and her boyfriend break up or get into a fight she will be on her own whatever the consequences cause we are poor and cant reach her

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I've dealt with similar issues with my sister for a long time. We're identical twins and just turned 35 but most of the time she acts like a super immature kid. If I get attention for anything she'll try to 'one up' me, or gain sympathy from my suffering...and it's so sad to me that the feels like life is a competition like that and that it's appropriate to try to get attention for other people's suffering.

One of the worst examples is: my best friend in the world died suddenly when we were 26. I was completely devastated. She'd only met him a couple of times and he hated her, but she went around telling everyone she knew and on social media ect that her best friend had died and she was crushed...she went so far as to fly from Arizona to NC to attend his funeral. Also when I got my BP diagnosis I asked her not to tell people because it's no ones business and she's been going around telling people her sister is mentally ill and she's so distraught ect. So I completely understand what you're dealing with.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I wish I could say your sister will change, but unfortunately she probably won't. In my experience the best you can do is try to ignore her behavior, which I know is much easier said than done. Especially when're going through your own stuff. Hugs.
