It's been so long since I've been put on a new med, so remind me, how long does it take for the initial "weird" feelings or side-effects to go away (I know some side-effects may remain, but the initial stuff is what I'm referring to).
I just started Abilify last week, and I'm now up to the full dosage my doc intends me to be on (5 mg). I'm also tapering off Risperdal, so I'm thinking I may have too much antipsychotic in my system (pdoc wanted me to cross-taper with the Risperdal but I was hesitant to get off the Risperdal too quickly so he told me I could cut it in little pieces and take a little to taper off longer). I'm going to take less Risperdal tonight. My side-effects are feeling spacey, occasional waves of mild nausea, and possibly mild anxiety-like feelings (but WAY better than my anxiety was). Thanks! Edit: I should note that these side-effects are mild and not of huge concern. I'm just wondering how long to expect them to stick around. Last edited by MusicLover82; May 24, 2016 at 11:28 PM. |

I think it is different for everyone and every combination of medications. I know my pdoc typically likes to give things two weeks and then have me check in with him again. (((Musiclover82))) Hang in there. If it gets too weird, call your pdoc and make sure you are ok.
