My first psych told me that I can take extra zyprexa (10mg) if I am feeling extra manic. For the past week I've been taking an extra zyprexa every night. Normally I only take it for three days until the symptoms go away. However, I get manic throughout major changes and starting my new job I want to make sure I don't get too far gone.

How long should I keep taking the extra zyprexa?

I do exactly the same thing.
My P.doc told me to take it for a minimum of three nights in a row when I start feeling manic. He recommended not taking it for more than seven consecutive nights

I would say more than a week you need to let your Pdoc know and probably need something else.

Good luck with your new job

The rule with my psych NP is to take the extra for two nights, then call her if that doesn't get me off the moon. I tend to become manic very quickly once it gets started, but I also come down quickly if I take extra Zyprexa for a night or two.

Oh how I love that expression "not off the moon".
I call it getting ramped up.
You gave me such a smile
