For those of you that wondered where I have been I had a bit of an accident. A combination of a few drinks, slippers that are too large and my own clumsiness I tripped and fell in the living room. I hit the the coffee table on on my collar bone and broke it and I must have twisted funny because I also snapped my femur just under the ball inside the hip joint. Si I have been in the hospital for the last 2 1/2 weeks. My collar bone is healing quickly but my femur is going to take a lot of a time and I may never walk properly again.

It was driving me frigging nuts to be in the hospital for so long but I had to learn how to walk again with a one handed walker.

They changed a few of my meds while I was there but I'm not quite sure which ones yet. It's amazing I didn't start screaming I was going so nuts in there. Plus being cut off of a couple meds and no smoking.

Anyways I'm back and I guess we will all find out if my meds changes make me even more crazy than usual or it will help to level me off.

Another problem with my femur is that the doctors seem to think that the repair will not heal properly in which case I will have to get a total hip replacement along with a partial replacement of my femur ( the ball joint at least).

Ugh, of all the rotten luck...! It's good to hear from you though, and to know what happened. Please take care of yourself, and if you need a hip replacement, let them do it. The recovery time isn't as long as you might think; I have a friend who just had one done a few weeks ago and she's already back at work as a nurse! Personally I think she's pushing it a bit, but it just goes to show that modern medicine can be a miracle worker.

Actually I think the recovery time for a hip replacement is less than the that it is for a broken femur.
