So... My mother is manic depressive and she has been off her meds for 5 months now... She is supposed to be taking seroquel 800mg and ambien 12.5 and now Ativan due to very bad delusions... She is in the psych ward and has been there 11 days.. She is very bad off and I was just wondering if anyone with this disorder can help me cope if she will ever come back down to baseline ever or not since she let herself go so bad.. I just want my mother back and she is putting all the blame on me for being in the psych would when she voluntary went to get evaluated then they realized how bad she was and was court ordered to be admitted... I just want or need to know or opinions on how long it will take to get her normal again

She may never be the same again. You need a therapist. So does she. Mania can last month's. Is she taking her meds. She's going to blame you for the psych ward because she's parinod.

I agree with MM that you need a therapist. Your mother may very well recover sooner, rather than later. Medications can help quickly in some cases. But all cases are unique. When your mom is well, you can work on a plan with her. Some conditions she must meet before hospitalization is needed. This can avoid any problems of blame in future episodes. She must become part of her own treatment and you can either choose to be a part of her support system, or let her know you cannot deal with it. You have both options. Please take care of yourself through this.
