I've posted on here a few times that I wanted to nix the Seroquel I've been taking (50mg a LOT less than I used to take anyway) bc of s/e and missing hypomania. But I've been depressed for the last month to the extent that I can barely function. I feel so slow and helpless with my memory even worse than usual, I can't focus on anything, and I've had some hallucinations and paranoia for good measure.

So I saw my pdoc today and of course instead of decreasing the Seroquel (or keeping it at the lower dose I myself had decided to take) she's titrating it up significantly to 300mg

(My Lamictal is also being increased, which is fine bc I haven't had s/e before).

So even more s/e than before and she suggested I take the rest of the week off from work while I get used to the increased Seroquel (sleepiness); the last time I took this dose I was falling asleep at work. Now I freelance, so no work, no pay.

I HATE HATE HATE this, even though I know it's for the best.

ETA: My pdoc said that the stronger and more effective meds tend to also have the strongest side effects -I thought this was interesting.

I was taking 800mg of Seroquel at one point. All I did was stare at the wall all day long and think. Gained 60 pounds, and was emotionally flat. Hope your experience is better. Wish you weren't depressed. I hope the Lamictal and higher dose of Seroquel lift you up, and that the tiredness doesn't last. Prayers are with you

It's so different for everyone. I was on 1200 mg plus a lot more sedatives up until February and couldn't sleep at all. I just adjusted very thoroughly to each dose so that it was not sedating. That's a very high dose used only b/c there were no other good options, but Seroquel worked for me when nothing else did for a very long time. I don't know how long it took to adjust to 300 because that was years ago but generally things got easier about 4-7 days into each dose.

My seroquel is my only consistant med for the past few years. I take it at night an hour before bed and 10 hours before i have to be up the next day. Morning grogginess is really bad, but its the only drug that keeps me somewhat away from huge mania or huge depression.

I was on 300mg of seroquel for awhile, but decided to wean myself off because it was making me fat and bloated and tired and grumpy and it blunted my personality.

Hope it works for you though!

I have been on 600mg of Seroquel for a year now, but just today my Pdoc lowered it down but I am unsure by how much because he was more focused on adding Latuda and Ativan to my medication list, while also stating he will only prescribe the Ativan once I turn in my Klonopin (I cannot have both bottles around for legal reasons, I think).

I feel awful that they went ahead and upped your dosage, but I have been there before. Sometimes what we want and express is ignored for their educated reasoning. But keep them posted on a regular basis so that way they know it is not working for you.

Every persons body reacts to meds differently ..

When first diagnosed I was on Seroquel about 300mg and it helped altho I was eating everything that didn't move.

My daughter started Seroquel about 6 months later and 50 mg knocks her on her backside for 14-16 hours .. She really tried to tolerate it .. but nope her body flat refused so she flipped to Triliptal and it was perfect. I once tried Triliptal and couldn't even walk straight and non stop nausea.

Sounds like based on your current symptoms the increase makes sense.. Just because you need to increase now doesnt mean in the future you can't bring it down some.

Hope you feel better soon
