I have been struggling with depression for months. I am now on the max of my medication and the depression has got much better. Some days I feel like it is gone.
What I am noticing I am having mood dips, all is going good and suddenly my mood dips. This happens for a few minutes to hours. Is this normal with BP/depression or could it be the medication? Thanks ![]()

I was on Zoloft and I was all over the place. Ups and downs non stop. I'm assuming it was the meds. I took myself off and got majorly depressed. Now I'm on prozac and abilify and I'm feeling hyper.

I'm maxed out on all my meds but Lamictal which was just added a little over a month ago. I'm doing better as well except for first thing in the morning...I struggle every morning get but once I shower and go to work I seem to be doing good fine. Best wishes for you. Hugs

My mood dips when I am bored. Like I feel stuck where I feel I have to do something but I can't. It could be lack of stimulation causing you to feel that way. I suggest doing something that you enjoy.

I'm starting to think that boredom causes me to become moody and more depressed than normal.

Are your mood dips maybe just anxiety or panic attacks?

I wonder, do you get periods of elation in between the dips? Could this then be a case of mixed states?

@ JustAFriend - Mixed state is not alternating highs and lows. That would be rapid cycling.

My mood dips (or rises) mainly because I'm a sensitive person, I think. I tend to pick up on environmental vibes and people's moods readily, even strangers. I also pick up on if I walk into a tense or potentially volatile situation...at a store, waiting room, etc., even if no one is speaking. It's part of my personality.
I consider dips short in duration, not necessarily bipolar-related for me. During mood episodes, I don't have dips. It's more of a downward crash or escalation, or mixed...more pronounced. My intuition and insight often go dormant during an episode. INFP for those that are interested in Myers-Briggs is my personality type. My meds are stabilized so it's not med-related for me. |
