Does anyone here take Lithium alone, with no other meds? Is it effective?

I was asking my pdoc about it recently mostly because I was in the mood to toss all of my meds out the window and figured, well what if I could just take lithium, the one pill, and how great would that be?

But she said it doesn't help with anxiety so I'd still need those meds and I'd also have to continue taking an AP...

Have any of your pdocs said something similar, do you take it alone, do you know if it's prudent to do so?

Some do. Only I can feel your anxiety from here. Until you calm down, you're going to need anxiety med too.
Lithium is a great med. Not for everyone though. It takes diligence and vigilance.
You need to drink the water, eat the salt and take the blood tests.
I'm practically on lithium only right now. Sans a couple of sleeping pills. Good luck.

I can't be on a very high dose of Lithium due to side-effects (900 mg a day seems to be my limit). So, I take a whole cocktail of meds. I seem to do better on a variety of meds for different needs of mine. My pdoc balances everything well. Best wishes in your journey to wellness!

Hi Music,
I salute you. My body refuses to go to 900mg. I lowered myself to 600. And doing just fine. Blood tests at .5 all the time. Life is good.
