Hi everyone!
So any advise or personal experiences can seriously help here, I have not had an episode of mania in 2 years, I was on and off of Lamictal for those two years, but in full honesty, I never really took it responsibly and for the vast majority of the two years I self medicated. About 6 months ago I began a treatment regimen of psychotherapy and taking Lamictal again appropriately and with out fail. I seriously have not missed a dose. I have had severe depression through out these two years. The worst case of depression was just recently, with in the past month. So I spoke to my psychiatrist and she hesitantly put me on 10mg of Prozac.
I have been taking it for 2 week and am beginning to worry that I am in the beginning phases of a hypo/manic episode. Terrified actually. I am not sleeping, I am noticing a massive spike in my energy levels, creativity and general mood. I am having vivid dreams and have gotten a lot done lately. I can't tell if I'm just getting out of a serious depression or if I'm headed towards a manic break down.

So the question I have for you lovely folks is, how do you notice if you are becoming manic? What are some things you do to moniter your moods, and how do you regulate them?
Thanks so much!

Do you have a journal? I have a journal where I write down my emotions and thoughts during the week. I keep track of my moods. Positive or negative emotional or cognitive changes. This helps me keep track of my disorder. Google mania. Some of the symptoms are the need for less sleep, pressured speech, racing thoughts, irritability, rage, euphoria, impulsiveness, risky sex, irrational behavior. There are also apps you can download that will help you keep track ofbyourbmoods. I have one emoods. It's for bipolar disorder. If you are experiencing hypo mania speak to your pdoc. Maybe they will increase your Lamictal, or add another medication.

I guess there really is an app for everything haha! I do Google constantly, and it always seems that I can convince myself either way, that I'm manic, or the opposite, that I'm paranoid and this is just how life feels outside of depression. As far as journaling, I really struggle to keep up with it, but I really think it is a great idea. Im going to start! Thank you for the advise!

Okay, I'm going through all of those now. If you don't mind me asking, what usually happens after that for you?

I know it sounds stupid, but I really struggle to control my mood when on medication, so I'm just curious if there are tell tale signs I should be looking for. And I know it's different for everyone, but I appreciate the comments!

For me, beginning a hypo/manic episode is hand in hand with starting to get irritated with other people.... EVERYBODY ELSE seems to become thickheaded and difficult, when it's really me reacting to everything and everybody in an exaggerated way.
