When was the last time you got solid exercise? (I mean working out, not walking to and from your car!)

Exercise is great for the mood! My psychologist highly recommended it as a means of helping cope with depression. It's also good if you're on meds which cause weight gain.

Admittedly, I haven't gotten exercise in like 5 weeks lol. My recent depression could have been a lot milder if I got exercise IMO

I need to get out more

I hope this motivates y'all to get some exercise. I'm planning on biking today
Thanks for this!

I don't go to the gym but do a LOT of walking and cycling. Anywhere from 12,000 to 22,000 steps a day (about 3 1/2 hours of vigorous walking).
Thanks for this!

Ah, you got one of those Fitbits then? I have one, but I got pissed off with it when I couldn't fix the time on it.

Or maybe you have a regular ol' pedometer or something similar

I used to get 6000 to 12000 steps a day.
Thanks for this!

Oh, don't ask. Way too long. It's hard when you're afraid to leave the house much.

I have an Euro Body Shaper machine. Great if you step on it. I lost 15 pounds in one month once.
Ah, it's also for sale. Collecting dust in one of the bedrooms.

My last exercise was this morning if you count walking the dog. Otherwise, it's been three days since doing intervals on my bike.

I lift weights regularly (noncompetitive bodybuilder). but doing it when you're depressed or mixed can be next to impossible sometimes. but if you do it when you are it does help with mood for a little bit when you have that endorphin rush.

I joined a gym a little over a week ago. I went to one personal training session, then my son needed emergency surgery on his appendix so we dealt with that and haven't been back to the gym. I hope I can make it there tonight.

It's been a while but right now all I can manage are my physio exercises (broken hip) which are pretty mild.
Thanks for this!

Bummer. How did you break your hip, if I may ask?
Thanks for this!

I just tripped and fell on the floor but I have osteoporosis (bone disease) which means I break easily. Actually I broke my collarbone in the same fall as well.

Great thread topic!

If I had seen this thread first, I would have put the link to the research article on exercise within your thread, instead of creating a separate thread.
My apologies to you, bluebicycle.

For now, I go for early morning walks, while it is cool outside.
I have been very athletic most of my life. However, I have some rather severe limitations now and I am awaiting acceptance of my case with a physical rehabilitation specialist, in hopes I can regain strength and more, safely returning to some of the sports I've loved.

I truly miss being able to exercise to the max. It used to help in keeping me sane.

Be Well,
WC
