My doctor recently tapered me off Latuda 40mg (I wanted to get off of it because it really wasn't helping and it was making me sick to my stomach every day.) During the taper, she started me on Abilify at 5mg. Three weeks ago, I stopped taking Latuda altogether and now I'm on 10mg of Abilify.

I'm dying. Lol. I have so much anxiety all day long. On and off. Like I'm fine one minute and the next, I have chest crushing anxiety. I'll be okay for a couple of hours and then whoosh! Anxiety through the roof. No in between.

I'm thinking of coming off the Abilify to see if my anxiety is due to that or due to just being bipolar.

Anyone else experience anxiety like this on Abilify?

Abilify was awful for me. The combination of abilify and celexa sent me into s mixed state twice. So it very well could be the abilify. But I wouldn't do any med changes without a pdocs approvall.

Abilify made me go into a mixed state and have self harm thoughts , which I've never had before. I was in a crisis ward five times while on Abilify

Abilify.. oh god where do I start with it . I mean it did stop my psychotic episodes.. for 2 days, after those 2 days were over my psychosis turned to the worst. The anxiety I am getting is horrible. At one point it got to the point of where I couldn't breath.. You are not alone in this one..

Thank you for all the feedback everyone. I really just thought it was me having another breakdown. I didn't take it last night. I know it has a long half life so we'll see how it goes. I was going to taper off, but I was only on it a short time that I felt it was worth the risk. Plus I'm notoriously a bad patient. I think it's even written in my chart...lol.

I've been on Abilify for about a month now, and I do notice some mild anxiety, but I started out with severe anxiety before taking it, so this is a big improvement. I did notice heart palpitations (which is not uncommon for me because of my digestive issues, but they got pretty bad on Abilify), so my GP put me on a beta blocker. Man, do I feel better! Maybe a beta blocker would help you too, especially if the issue is racing heart with anxiety? I know it sucks having to take another medication due to side-effects, but it's totally worth it for me. The Abilify is working great for me otherwise.

To be the contrasting voice, I'm taking 30mg of Abilify per day (with 300mg of Wellbutrin) and I'm at the best I've been in years, many years. It all depends on the person. I wholeheartedly agree with Wildflower, don't make changes without your doc's consent.

all the best

Severe anxiety was one of my big problems. I'm on both Latuda and Abilify. Both meds are helpful, neither has caused anxiety. But that's me. I wonder if your anxiety is the result of withdrawal from the Latuda?
