8 days ago I was put on 40mg of Latuda 2 x a day. At first i was pleased as I noticed no side effects. It was to treat mixed depression. Since going on it I have been increasingly agitated, irritable, super-inpatient, think i am smarter than everyone and have super powers, very suicidal and low. It got so serious i was in a locked ward in a state hospital last night and am now in a private hospital I usually go to. My mood is intense to say the least - hell on earth. It has taken all my strength just to stay alive. I don't recall feeling this bad.

Thing is my pdoc thinks it may be the Latuda and so does my T but my pdoc want me to wait two more days to make sure its the Latuda. I want to stop it now but trust my pdoc.

Anyway has anyone had this kind of experience with Latuda. I was depressed and agitated but this is much worse and even psychotic at times. I thought it was a benign drug that at worst didn't work but a bit of research showed this is not the case. This was my last hope drug, now I feel left without hope for recovery.

I had some mixed symptoms about a year into it, they increased the dose and they stopped. But I take 80 all at night before sleeping. So I sleep though the side effects.

Now that you mention it, I did have more mixed symptoms while on Latuda, but not that severe. It worked really well for me for a few years until it stopped working (my main problem is anxiety). I'm currently phasing Latuda out.

Thanks for your replies. My side effects are a danger to my life. Has is it been that way for anyone else? i am really hoping it is the latuda and not the mixed state itself. At least there us hope I will feel better. This is pure hell. On the other hand if it is the Latuda I don't know what else my doc can do for me. I hate this illness.

Hi Wander. Latuda gave me intense migraines and did nothing for my moods. Have you tried Geodon or Saphris, or Seroquel? These all work for me.

Abilify did this to me. So it is possible that it's the latuda. I hope they figure something out for you soon! You don't deserve all this suffering.

I have not had bad effects from Latuda. For me, it's a very helpful med.
Thanks for this!

I'm on Saphris and doubt it's doing anything. Seroquel made me put on weight and very sedated. Haven't tried Geodon.

I was in the ER recently with a severe allergic response to either latuda or Risperidone. It was terrible.

I'm so sorry you had such a terrible reaction and I hope you feel better very quickly. Hang in there. ((Hugs))

Now I have to wait till tomorrow to see my pdoc.

So hard to wait when I am climbing up the walls and as inpatient as hell. Nurses have been supportive so I am grateful for that. I want off this drug asap and to come up with a new treatment plan that works. I have lost hope there is anything that will help me. So tired of feeling so desperate and despairing. Hope my doc can work miracles.

I see my pdoc at 5pm (8 hours past GMT) and will update then. Still feeling the same, if not worse.

Glad you see your pdoc today, but I'm saddened that you still feel so bad. My prayers are with you

my Psychiatrist doesn't think it's the Latuda so has upped my dose to 120mg a day. I hope he is right. He is also increasing my Lithium. Will give it a few days to see he I go and reassess Monday. He has stopped the Saphris I'm happy with that. Less meds I'm on the better. Feeling a bit better after our chat. He will consider Clozeral if this doesn't work which I'm not keen on at all because of the weight gain. I guess it is the med waiting game. I'm tired af this all but what can I do but be patient and fight fight for my life.
