Hey, guys!

So I have rapid cycling bipolar II disorder, and I'm writing a romance/comedy novel where the main character has the same mental illness. I don't want to base it off just my symptoms, especially since I was diagnosed only two months ago, so here are some questions:

- What symptoms of bipolar II do you guys face while you're on your meds?
- If you're comfortable speaking about it, what have your worst and best/easiest episodes of hypomania and depression been like?
- Since it's a romance novel, I also want to know this: have any of your significant others expressed any extreme positive/negative reactions to your condition? I know some guys think it's 'kinky' to be with a manic girl, ugh.

If you're not comfortable with any of these questions, or if I'm being too forthcoming, please do let me know.

Thanks a ton for reading!

Swati

Heya, Swati,

My wife came to my work and took my directly to the mental hospital the first time I had to go in. More to that story via private message.

Symptoms: (depression)sleep a lot; fail to shave; reckless driving; (hypomania) reckless driving; hug everybody; talk a lot; supreme self-confidence.
Those are all while on meds, even, since nothing's fully controlled.

Being that I've only recently been diagnosed it's kinda hard to say, but one thing I've noticed is weight loss (which I'm not complaining about...LOL!!!) and I seem to be getting more irritated instead of less irritated. This is definitely something I need to discuss with my pdoc.

Well, I got a something for my anxiety (cannot remember the meds) than made me completely impotent. Often anxiety and other side effects accompany BP as you well know it is not an easy illness.
While hypnomanic, I crave sex and the above meds made it a very bad combination.

I feel like I'm the only person here who doesn't care about sex.
