I'm curious if any of you all have had this experience as well.
I was diagnosed in 2006 after a very traumatic year and subsequent breakdown. In the time since, I have had a lot of bipolar episodes that lasted several months each. I would go up, swirl about in the middle (mixed) and then crash, eventually coming back up to regular with the help of dr and meds. This was happening every spring and fall for about 8 years.
I feel like between the episodes themselves and the medicines to bring me back to my regular functioning self, I have lost time. There are some years that I really don't remember much at all about. It bothers me quite a lot that I can't remember long periods of time. Has anyone else experienced this? I don't mean this in terms of a multiple personality thing, I realize that people lose time in that condition because of the alters. It's more the time spent sitting on the couch in a daze, falling asleep mid conversation because of the medicines. There was a point that my therapist came to get me from the lobby for our visit and she point blank told me I was over medicated and we made an appt with my psychiatrist to address it. This was a number of years ago.
Thanks guys!

Read it somewhere that as of 2014, the life expectancy in States is 78.6 years. Most people who sleep 8 hours a day would spend 25 years sleeping. I sometimes sleep 12 hours a day when meds knocked me out really bad. Then there are a lot of days when I, like you said, spending time by sitting on the couch in a daze. There are times when I can’t sleep for days though, but I spend it by walking back and forth without a real direction or doing unimportant things while not being 100% focus So yeah, I hear you about lost time. It bothers me so much. I sleep with a desk clock just to hear the ticking voice so I can sense the time when it passes by
