I turned this poem into a song years ago, and I should sing it for myself more often. It's very emotional for me and it really hits home that I feel there is a purpose in what I go through, so I can connect more deeply with others.
![]() "Song of the Nations" by Edna St. Vincent Millay Out of night and alarm, Out of darkness and dread, Out of old hate, grudge and distrust, sin and remorse, passion and blindness, shall come dawn and the birds, shall come slacking of greed, snapping of fear. Love shall fold warm like a cloak round the shuddering earth, till its woes cease. After terrible dreams, After crying in sleep, Grief beyond thought, twisting of hands, tears from shut lids wetting the pillow, shall come sun on the wall, shall come sounds from the street, children at play. Bubbles too big blown, and dreams filled too heavy with horror shall burst and in mist fall. Sing then, you who were dumb! Shout then, into the dark! Are we not one? Are not our hearts hot from one fire, and in one mold cast??? Out of night and alarm, Out of terrible dreams, Reach me your hand! This is the meaning of all that we suffered in sleep: The white peace of the waking. |

Hey!
Sorry no one answered your thread. I have a song that relates a lot to what I go through in regards to finding a mate. The lyrics might be triggering to some so beware. Gasoline Halsey Are you insane like me? Been in pain like me? Bought a hundred dollar bottle of champagne like me? Just to pour that motherf***er down the drain like me? Would you use your water bill to dry the stain like me? Are you high enough without the Mary Jane like me? Do you tear yourself apart to entertain like me? Do the people whisper 'bout you on the train like me? Saying that you shouldn't waste your pretty face like me? And all the people say You can't wake up, this is not a dream You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline I think there's a flaw in my code These voices won't leave me alone Well my heart is gold and my hands are cold Are you deranged like me? Are you strange like me? Lighting matches just to swallow up the flame like me? Do you call yourself a f***ing hurricane like me? Pointing fingers cause you'll never take the blame like me? And all the people say You can't wake up, this is not a dream You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline I think there's a flaw in my code These voices won't leave me alone Well my heart is gold and my hands are cold

Right now my favorite song is "Your Hell is Here" by Solar Fake
Lyrics: Turning to the next page of your diary It’s blank and virgin white All the lines are blurred, you swim on melted paper Drowning false delight You don’t need to breathe, your eyes are clear But where’s your hope To come up again and face the truth The lies in life Your hell is here You’re fighting monsters to get the constancy out of your head But your hell, my dear, is feeding oceans With your devotion to flood your sick world You’re pouring with the ink onto the background It’s just like a waterfall The shapes are drawn so fast, but letters never talk or say a word at all You still sit there, the words are gone that should pronounce The uncut truth about your life, the lies in life Your hell is here You’re fighting monsters to get the constancy out of your head But your hell, my dear, is feeding oceans With your devotion to flood your sick world I really relate to this song and lyrics, I feel it describes what goes on in my head, and living with mental illness...

Another song is "Sweet Pandemonium" by the name HIM
Lyrics: Today tomorrow seems so far away And the wait in vain, yeah So safe, in the blinding light of love unchained In yesterday's grave, yeah The truth that could set souls free Is buried within sweet pandemonium Concealed by disbelief The riddle stays veiled in sweet pandemonium Afraid that everything remains unchanged In this fragile dream, yeah Ashamed of the shattered remains Of promises made, yeah The truth that could set souls free Is buried within sweet pandemonium Concealed by disbelief The riddle stays veiled in sweet pandemonium Drained by the anger and grief Fazed by the envy and greed The secret cries for a release The lucidity hidden deep in sweet pandemonium The truth that could set souls free Is buried within sweet pandemonium Concealed by disbelief The riddle stays veiled in sweet pandemonium Again I relate to the lyrics and how it describes what goes on in my head, and living with mental illness...

"While We Sleep" by Insomnium
When your heart gives out and your love collapses When the hand that never lets go is there no more When you reap and sow only throe and resentment When there's no one else but you to blame it for When all you ever wish for is to go back once more When all you ever wish for is to change it all When all you feel is remorse, pain and regret When you dwell in the past unable to move on And we drift far away in our dreams Gather further distance while we sleep Build a wall of glass thick and deep We hear but choose not to listen And we drift far away in our dreams Gather further distance while we sleep Still the bridge is enflamed with fire Leave all the love we had behind When you realize that your life is a one-way road When you realize that there's no point of return When you understand that you can't go back anymore When you understand you can only move onwards And we drift far away in our dreams Gather further distance while we sleep Build a wall of glass thick and deep We hear but choose not to listen And we drift far away in our dreams Gather further distance while we sleep Still the bridge is enflamed with fire Leave all the love we had behind Slow down We need to slow down We need to slow down so I can catch you We need to slow down so I can catch you We need to slow down so you can catch me We need to slow down so I can catch you We need to slow down so you can catch me Slow down |
