Do you notice that during certain parts of the day, your symptoms are at their worst? If so, around when does that occur? Also, what part of the day do you feel the most stable?

For instance, lately I feel the worst when I first wake up, and it persists for a few hours. I feel anxiety and that my life does not belong to me. It's a strange feeling. Then, I start feeling better, but then I get more emotional again by mid afternoon. Evenings/Night hours are when I feel best and most relaxed.

What are your patterns throughout the day?

I feel the worst around midday. My anxiety is up around that time. It's usually when my depression is bad as well.

I don't fluctuate on the same day, usually...unless its situational.

At this time in my life, my daily patterns seem to follow 24 hour circadian patterns, with a slump from approx. 2pm to 4 pm.

This can change if the day gets too stressful, for sure.

My husband is my best friend. While I love and need my alone time, I also enjoy his presence. Thus, I am usually a bit more cheerful and contented when he is around. We share a similar sense of humor. He's very comforting during my worst times, as well.

I feel worse first thing in the morning. My depression is always really bad, I struggle to get up and going. I'm better once I shower and get moving

I have had this morning pattern you are describing for many years. It's very difficult to start the day this way. My heart goes out to you.

I have a (likely temporary) reprieve right now, probably due to Latuda in my case.

I feel worse in the morning and in a bad mood until I have my energy drinks. Mostly groggy from seroquel. But if I'm mixed or depressed it's an all day **** show

I must not be in tune like you all are...you know how you're feeling. it seems unlikely that I'd be the same the entire day when all you all have shifts. Is it important to know? I may need to figure out how to gain more insight.

I can relate, rainyday. Outside of clear cut depression or hypo, it can be really foggy. Especially as I tend to have a few "symptoms" of both ends of both simply as a part of who I am. For instance, (aside from not being a morning person, lol) I tend to be a force of nature, yet am not hypo. I also tend to believe the universe is against me. Yet am not depressed. These "symtoms" can jumble up time-of-day-wise. It makes identifying the slower shifts really hard. My psych says I have good insight. I disagree.

Long/short:

IN clearcut episode, time of day is irrelevant.

Outside episode, slow morning (not morning person)>fine>best. This is my long-standing circadian pattern, not BP.

As long as something major hasn't happened during the day I think I'm at my worst between 4pm-6pm. I've been having to force myself to go to bed earlier since I've been going into work earlier. I would prefer working earlier than later because then I have less traffic to deal with during my 30 minute commute to/from work.

Thanks for posting. I see some similarities if I don't have to factor time in, either. I'm a night person. Mornings, no. I'm always experiencing a least a few symptoms. It becomes more pronounced when it's an episode. Significant stress or PTSD triggers can shift me into a mood episode quickly.

Thanks again

I find it very hard to get going in the morning and I think that is mostly anxiety related. Bipolar-wise I feel worst around 12:00-4:30pm. This is when I am most likely to experience mixed episode symptoms. I feel best from 4:30-8:30pm.

No. My symptoms are awful all day.

Sometimes my depression worsens at night, but it has nothing to do with the time of day. Usually at night I'm alone with my thoughts, and those thoughts worsen my depression. Then the worse my depression, the worse the thoughts. It's a vicious cycle.

When depressed, like right now, I wake up around 7.30am in the deep darkness, feeling heavy and unable to get out of bed. After a while I drag myself out of bed, feed myself something small to take my meds with and have a coffee. Then I go for a long, fast walk. The walk helps but my mood doesn't lift until around 11.30am. My mood is better but still depressed until early evening when it begins to tank again and I go to sleep in despair.

When well I don't seem to have any mood shifts during the day and hypo I tend to cycle from very up to just up and then back way up again.

so from like 6 until about mid day

though i say that on sundays (always ever on sundays) i'm absolutely terrible of a morning- well actually for most of the day.

and in summer my psymptoms are worse all day.. summer and me don't mix.

I did notice my shifts in mood throughout the day sometimes change according to episodes. Sometimes there are absolutely no shifts, and it's the same all day each day. Or, the best times of the day vs. worst times are different according to what type of symptoms I'm having trouble with.

I have no clue why mornings are so terrible for me lately. The only thing I can think of is that I wake up recovering from all the racing thoughts that have been going through my head at night. I thought the Seroquel was taking care of that. I guess it's time to talk to my pdoc.

I feel.the most refreshed right after I wake up, but still can't drag myself out of bed (only to take meds), I feel the worst though at night, even though I'm a night person I feel the worst at that time, but some.days I feel like crap all day no matter.what.
