I am on lithium and I am noticing personality changes - while depressed I am an introvert, while manic I am an extrovert. No psychosis due to the meds I am taking. Is this normal or typical for bipolar? During the phase shift I am be rather irritable...

I think that's fairly common for bipolar (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, anyone). The extroversion is one of my early warning signs, actually.

That's how it is for me too. Since meds and before meds as well.
And like vertigo, it is one of my early warning signs. One of the earliest aspects is talking with random people, like when out at a store. Seldom happens when stable. Never happens when depressed. So when it starts to happen, something's up. I'm naturally an introvert, right back to early childhood. |

Yessss
I'm introverted and I don't like to approach other people. Literally, I wait until someone approaches me before I talk to anyone. When I'm hypo/manic, I get all giddy and start complimenting random people. "Wow, I like your shoes. Those are really cool!" Then they usually say "thanks" and that's the end of our convo. But I do that to EVERYBODY. |
