So we've confirmed that Depakote is causing me liver damage, and I need titrate off it. F€Ck. It's been doing stellar for about a year now, and even if it weren't for the case of the stupid mentals on it and the weight gain, I'd probably hold onto it. Catastrophic liver failure is no joke however, so it's gotta go.

The thing is, my doc is starting a 3-way titration as of last night, and today I feel like hell. We dropped my 1k Depakote to 750mg, added 20mg to my 60mg Latuda for a total of 80, and increased my Lamictal from 150 to 200. All at once. All at home. And sent me to work today.

I'm hiding out in the bathroom as I type this, hoping to not make many errors. Needless to say, I feel like hell. I'm up one minute, down the next, and just fine/able to get work done the next. It's quite the roller coaster, and I'm hoping to be well enough to drive carefully home tonight. If not, I'll have my wife come pick me up.

The doc had suggested possibly going IP to do this, and depending on how I feel in the AM I might just do that. We'll see though - any of these by themselves should be fine, but the combo is a bear.

Anyone else have experience with changing two mood stabilizers, an AP, and an AD all in one day? It's quite the ride. At least I'll be able to relax at home this evening and have better food/sleep than I would IP.

Any thoughts would be helpful, thanks in advance!

It is kind of extreme, but none of the adjustments are drastic. Fortunately my wife is very attuned and has a pretty good idea when I need to go IP. That's where I may be tomorrow, but we'll see.

Thank you for the support.

Ouch...hope things even out and you don't have to go IP.

I was taken off Depakote for the same reason, although there may be something else going on as well.

( ouch ) also hoping you don't have to go IP

(I was on a new med which has possible liver damage as a "major side effect" - I had to stop it for a different reason )

Thanks for all the support everyone, I appreciate it. My boss sent me home a bit early (without disclosing details I told her I wasn't feeling the greatest), so that was kind of her. The drive was fine, albeit a bit spacey. I'm now in my quiet bedroom, laying down, and feel much better than I did.

Holy he||, I was pretty scared there for a bit. Hoping to get a good night's sleep tonight, and continue the Depakote taper. The others should stabilize in a day or two, and it's the weekend which should be an easy time to kick down the Depakote
A bit more.

Oh these meds, blessing and curse.

I hope you get some rest and feel better! I have done the 3-way med change. I've never been particularly sensitive to changes in my Lamictal dosages. AP changes are hardest for me. I have usually been feeling so awful (which necessitated the drastic changes) that it was just part of the process of getting better.

I'm glad you are getting off Depakote! That sounds unsafe for you.

I'm glad you were able to get off of work early. Hang in there. Can you take a sick day or two?

Thanks, Rainy. Yeah, if I need to I can take the day off. I just woke up from a brief nap and am feeling right as rain. Thanks again for all the support, and we'll see if tomorrow's roller coaster is less intense.

Yikes! I can see how that would be a shock to your system. I'm glad you're starting to feel better, but feel free to call in sick if you need to; I used to feel bad about doing that for mental health reasons, but sick is sick, and as you know you don't have to tell your boss why exactly you can't come in. Best of luck with this.

So I called in sick to work today. I'm feeling fine now, but the weirdness seems to hit mid-day, and I'd rather not be around my co-workers if that happens again.

Thanks for all the support and responses on this thread, it means a lot to me.

Thanks, WC. I am feeling like I have much more cognition. Depakote puts such a hit on your ability to think, that it's a pretty good feeling to get off it. Fortunately, I continue to feel stable.

Thanks again for caring.
