I have been through this exact program before, I was depressed at the time. This time I am still hypo from my last psychotic break. I really want to get something out of this, I don't want to be disruptive and just sail through. How do I reign it in and work on my skills?

To add insult to injury I apparently spent some time while I was in the portion of my episode that I don't remember with an insane girl. She is facebook stalking me, and texting me. Overall harassing me how do I tell her to take a hike without being insensitive. I don't remember spending any time with her, but I also have a pretty significant period of time that I have no recollection of. I really don't need this drama while trying to get better.

you can block her texts and calls. before that you could just tell her that you have been ill and sorry that you can't be there for her.
good luck with the IOP.

You can block them in the msg app too. Just tell her about your episode and that it's better for your mental health that you not start any relationship right now. I wish you the best of luck and you can PM me if you're having a bad day. Good luck!

I wish I had some context to talk to her about, I don't remember meeting her, none of the people that were around remember her. But I think I was running around solo for a day or so. I have not found the button to block in the messenger app yet.

On a treatment related note, why is it that these skills seem so obvious and self evident. What is the trick to using them when needed? They never seem to tell you how to do that. At least I have a different counselor this time. Hopefully he can offer me a different, read harda$$ perspective.

Tomorrow is another day.

Day two in the books. Boy do I need the DBT work. It is good to be able to talk so openly. And my counselor is holding me accountable for my recovery.

I work in a psych hospital and a coworker and I were just discussing this. The thing is that those skills SEEM super self evident and easy when you're detached from them, but they can be much more difficult when you're actually in need of them. My coworker and I were joking about how often we reinforce DBT training and other practical, useful techniques to our patients, but then go home after a rough day at work and just get drunk or other non-healthy coping skills, or allow ourselves to fall into catastrophic thinking when we should know better.

I guess the trick to using them, when needed, is to give yourself constant reminders. Leave yourself notes, wear a symbolic bracelet, set notifications on your phone, etc. Because it is incredibly easy to forget when you're in the throes of emotional upheavals.

I agree with what everyone else said. Tell her you can't talk to her that you are sick ATM.( you don't have to tell her why). Then firmly tell her you don't want to be rude but you will have to "ignore' her for a while. Then-Block her.
