Who are your favorite music artists? (Please state which genre!)

I'm interested in seeing which music people find "therapeutic" since everyone has their own idea of therapeutic. And well, maybe this thread could be useful for some people.

Sometimes I find heavy metal therapeutic. Lol. It's "rage" music for when I'm pissed or depressed. So... Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Breaking Benjamin

But when I'm in a good mood, I like indie and "calm" music. For example, Walk The Moon, Bon Iver, Jack Johnson

Nirvana, Alice in Chains when I'm down.

A wide variety of country music (new and old) & classic rock all the rest of the time.

Thriftworks, modest mouse, and mogwai when I'm down. Mastodon, buckethead, iron maiden, lagwagon, the crystal method when I'm up.

I listen to Clannad and Enya when I'm down. Otherwise I have a rather eclectic playlist of mostly early alternative (like 80s New Wave and punk) with other stuff thrown in for fun.

My go-to artists when down or angry: Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Tool. Nirvana is my favorite band though, and I listen to them no matter what mood I'm in.

For me, I can't go wrong with classic rock, no matter what mood. My favorites, especially when hypo: Led Zeppelin (my other favorite band), Pink Floyd, The Who, The Velvet Underground, etc

I like a lot of metal, anything from the classics like Black Sabbath, Metallica, Mercyful Fate, Anthrax, Iron Maiden to more modern metal, such as Insomnium and Shadows Fall.

I also like some old-school pop. Love Michael Jackson and Motown music. I don't mind a little bit of old-school rap either from time to time, especially when "up." Sometimes selective R&B (depends on the artist/song)

Goth music is great too, especially when I'm lost in my thoughts. The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, and London After Midnight to name a few.

I have everything from hippie music like the grateful dead and phish to slayer on my iPod. And everything in between. When I am really depressed I like to sit inside my closet and listen to old pink Floyd.

I can remember just going to bed early every night, being so depressed, and listening to Pink Floyd's "Meddle" album over and over til' I fell asleep. Especially the song " A Pillow Of Winds".

Music has always been a comfort, when I'm blue.

I used to constantly have music playing. After all the ECT I neither remember it nor miss it. Something about patterns and the area of the brain targeted by ECT. (I also get lost much more easily now.)

I do remember: Jackson Browne for my sister; Bad Co. for my brother.

When I am down I listen to Jamey Johnson (country) his voice helps me. Eryhak Badu (hip/hop), Hank Williams (country). It's all about the voice to me. It has to be very soothing to my mind or else I can't handle it.
When I am hypomanic I listen to nothing but rap. Snoop dogg, 2pac, biggie, and so forth.
