My pdoc app has been pushed back so I haven't gone yet.

If I tell my doctor the symptoms of my episode I had (head racing, paranoia, seeing and hearing things, blowing money) and now in a very depressive state, would I be sent to IP?

I'm not very suicidal, just a tad.

Unless you're actively suicidal with a plan they usually don't send you up. Unless your symptoms are impeding your ability to function.

I have concerns about the same thing. My first app with the assigned T is Monday. I really have no clue what the criteria is for T's to try to get somebody to go IP. The obvious suicide risk, but what other things get them pushing it?

I guess the real question is: what would going to the hospital mean to you?

Probably not, unless you report being actively suicidal. They might offer it as a voluntary option though. Do you think you need hospital?

No not likely unless like others said that you'd have to be actively suicidal. And if you are at any time in the future, maybe IP isn't a bad thing. I went to IP last month and now I'm on a cocktail that stabilized me and I recently got sober. Going to IP probably saved my *** because I did try to OD and I was a mess. IP isn't something you should be scared of. I think people with BP can benefit from a couple day stay and a med adjustment every few years or as needed

I dont think you will be sent to IP.

I do think its great that you be honest with them, so they can recommend ways for you to get better while not IP.

But, i agree with RX, its not always horrible, and a short IP stay may help a lot if you need it.

Good luck!

Well I know the answer in my case. My appointment was this morning. I hadn't decided if I would spill the beans or not, but I started having a panic attack in the waiting area, and when he took me back I went full jabbermouth and started bouncing off the ceiling. He didn't seem excited, just glad I came for help. Scheduled my appointments closer together.

pretty sure you've gotta literally be ready to kill yourself or someone else to be just slappin in IP against your will.

Pretty much. And that doesn't always guarantee it.
