Good afternoon all,

I'm looking for people's experiences with gabapentin with regards to their bipolar or other symptoms. I've been prescribed this off and on over the years for idiopathic neuropathy, and have recently started on it again.

Has anyone seen improvement in their BP symptoms with the use of gabapentin? I'm aware of the fatigue side effects, and will hopefully be able to handle those. That being said, there seems to be some benefits regarding anxiety and other mood-related symptoms. Just looking for any experiences, good or bad.

Thanks!

I'd say it helps with anxiety and sleep somewhat. Other than that, it doesn't do anything for me. It's far from any kind of miracle drug.

It has been really helpful to me with anxiety and sleep. I was on 400 mg at bedtime for years and that didn't help a lot but I was scared to go up after having been a zombie on a much higher dose. When I was IP in February that was what they suggested and it worked extremely well. I actually choose my PRN dose of this over my PRN klonopin now.

I take 800mg three times a day and it's helped my anxiety so much that I don't need my PRN benzo anymore.

I take 400mg three times a day. It does help with the anxiety but not as much as an AP (strangely enough).

I took Neurontin 1200 mg 3 times a day for a short period. The hospital doc wanted to see if Neurontin was a better mood stabilizer for me than Lithium. Neurontin did little for my mood and I had to go back on Lithium after being readmitted to the hospital. I have taken it in small doses for sleep and found it to be quite effective.
