I know BP and insomnia can often go hand in hand. I was DX with insomnia before BP which I now know was mania. And I've been sleeping with help of meds ever since. 13 years now. I'm on 300mg seroquel and I'll fall asleep, but come 5am I'm waking up every hour until I throw my hands in the air and just get out of bed! I've also used saphris in the past too along with many other trials but since it takes a dart gun to put me down, not much works. Trazodone is a tick tac for me. Anyone else have insomnia??

Yep I'm up during the night every night. Nothing was making me sleep: Trazadone, hydroxyzine, elavil, etc

Last night was up till 2 am watching TV again. Woke back up at 5:30 and there's no point in trying to go back to sleep now. Maybe I will get tired later and take a nap? Pdoc has offered me sleeping meds in the past but I don't want to go on yet another medication. I will just deal with it I guess. Pretty much always been this way.

I'm having a rough time staying asleep now too. My t told me to ask my pdoc for meds bc it's been so long since I've slept for more than a few hours at a time. I'm not sure what to ask for. Ambien has worked I the past but I run the issue of getting dependent on it and it makes me do weird things.

Anyway I hope you find something to give you some relief. Insomnia is awful.

yeah I have insomnia, I take 800mg of seroquelXR at 6, 600mg of lithium at 8-9 and Klonopin as I brush my teeth. I still have a hard time falling asleep. Often find myself up late watching TV or reading books. 8-9 hours of sleep is a luxury. The only times in the last year and a half that I have gotten good sleep is when I have been prescribed painkillers after surgery.

I was sleeping only 2 hours a night when manic recently. Tossed and turned a lot.

Most of the time, I can't even try sleeping till after 3am, as I know I will just toss and turn and I have to sleep right away or my back will hurt. Even when I'm depressed I only sleep 4-6 hours a day, and need a sedative of some sort. If I am on the up side then I can sometimes squeeze in 1-3 hours a day if I try real hard and take way too much benedryl.
